02 — Personality
Yuki was picked up from an orphanage at a young age, and taken into a church by a young couple. She spent most of her childhood there, and was taught the ways of the church. Though as she grew older, she started to take less interest in the church and more in the outside world in which she was never to tred.
At the age of 16, she was forced to take on priestess work. She was allowed outside only if it were for priestess work (purifying and performing sacred rituals). As Yuki began to learn more and more about the world, she started to resent her adoptive parents for sheltering her. She began lashing out at the church members and arguments between them grew.
She snuck out multiple times, and when she returned late at night she was disciplined. After the first time she was punished, her attitude turned more violent and hostile towards the church and after back-to-back punishments, she grew colder and more two-faced. She started to think that all people were violent and harsh like her parents. At the age of 17 was when she began to pretend to be more obedient and faithful to the church.

03 — Background
Yuki was born out of a loveless marriage, and was abandoned at a poorly funded orphanage. She was a bright child that had made many friends there, finding other children alike to her. One day, she was adopted by a pastor and his wife. They had brought her to their church, which was located on top of a giant hill.
She was excited to learn more about the church at first, but when they set boundaries she began to question her parents more and more. Her adoptive parents were unusually protective over her, and kept her locked inside for the most of her childhood. She asked them multiple times why they sheltered her. They often times responded that a monster was out to get her.
Years passed and she was assigned a job to be a priestess. She began training under an older, more experienced girl and was allowed outside for work. Her job consisted of performing sacred rituals at shrines and purifying cursed objects. She was only ever allowed outside for work, and if her teacher accompanied her; in order to prevent the 'monster,' from taking her.
But one day, a traveller came to rest at the church. He told Yuki many stories about his journey, and she wanted to see those wonders for herself. He began to teach her about foreign animals and magical creatures that were taller than the highest buildings. The man also took her outside to the town at the bottom of the hill. After her parents had discovered this, they argued with him and accidentally murdered him. He was shoved and landed on a hard surface, knocking him out into eternal slumber.
After that incident, she resented her parents for it. Though she had known him only for a short time, they were only beginning to become good friends. She started to sneak out at night, and more welts and marks were inflicted onto her back as, 'divine punishment,' by her mother. Yuki's personality became more cold and twisted, as she began to act obedient to them. There were no more spaces for the scars on her back. She wanted to run away, but somewhere deep down inside her, she couldn't bring herself to.
