What should become of the souls who wander the world, unknowing of their dance with death? The Fool is loved, betrayed, left to rot - and then they are picked back up after fearing to reach out, sewn back to life, and shown a second chance to find themselves. There is life in death, and eyes can become suns in their own search for light.
Deep below the ocean's surface, a group found themselves wandering the dark subway stations of the Metro, following the same rumors they've heard for years; there was something to be found here, in this place of broken promises. They all had each other's back, and if anything were to happen, no one would be left behind. After all, they had been close-knit for so long, surely nothing would tear them apart now!
At least, that is what the octopus had believed.
Before long, the others turned away, accusing them of trivial mishaps that they weren't to blame for - if anything, their so-called Friends were the ones perpetuating what they barked over - until they had been left with the only face they can remember from this point in time; Killjoy. The squid offered to stick around so the two of them could escape, and the octopus foolishly agreed. They were both hurt from this, after all, so if they stuck together, everything would be fine..
Weeks turned into months, wandering this labyrinth that neither knew the exit to, until finally - finally - they found a promising light. Just as they were about to turn and help Killjoy up the ladder, however, a sharp pain hit their back - and they felt the ground under them vanish as they were pushed in front of the incoming train.
They had woken up somewhere... strange. Possibly just as strange as where they last were, but the circumstances of their awakening was something else; upon opening their eyes, and with a great gasp for air, their special charged instantaneously. Frantically, they looked around, until their eyes were met with pale purple, and they found who had woken them up - an octoling, who they would come to find was named Xemo. They were about to ask it how they ended up here, when they caught sight of the stitches running across their body..
It was like a switch flipped in their brain; their name was Xero Lyes, they were 20, and the person who stabbed them with a needle full of sanitized ink and left them to die was Killjoy. They died - hell, they were supposed to still be dead - but they were back.. After some more formal introductions, Xero was able to find themself back in familiar territory above the ocean's waters.
Xero was given a second chance at life. Something they weren't even sure was supposed to be feasible, but it was something they weren't going to take for granted. Especially not when they knew who they had to track down.
