A thaumaturge and adventurer with a nasty tendency to attract voidsent wherever he goes thanks to the unusually high amounts of aether housed in his body, condemning him to a life of constant drifting. Having contended with them for nearly all his life, Neri no longer fears the voidsent that come to sup on his abundant aether, and now instead uses them as targets to hone his thaumaturgy skills. That said, he is still quite the coward and knows how to make a great escape when his hide is on the line.

About

CREEPING PERIL

Nenerin had always been on the frail side as a child-- he didn't quite have the bounce and energy of other Lalafellin children his age, and often spent time at home bedridden with nausea and aches. But for a family with not much money to go around, they had never found the opportunity to discern the conditions of his physical state, especially among the money-grubbing physicians of Ul'dah. Then, not long after Nenerin turned 10 on a quiet day, he began to notice strange happenings about his home. Whispers of an unseen voice, footsteps where no one stands, and gusts of wind by closed doors and windows. In time, the flickering shadows were made manifest, and mere months after the phantasmal events started did the voidsent begin to descend. Suffice to say, Nenerin was wracked with fear, but with no knowledge of the terrible invaders, he could do nothing to stop them.

REGRETS AND GRIEVANCES

When the voidsent came upon his home, they first consumed the aether of Nenerin's parents-- a horror that he was witness to when he opened their doors to investigate past midnight. Then, knowing he had no power to stop the creatures, he ran. He ran out into the darkened streets of Ul'dah, and then into the only place where he thought he could seek solace: the Arrzaneth Ossuary, home of the Thaumaturges' Guild. It was a building full of people he thought suspicious, but they were practiced mages. And so he burst through the doors with the moon in its peak of the sky, past the flames dimly lighting the Ossuary's interior, and collapsed in weariness in front of Nald'thal's mark with the voisent in tow. But the thaumaturges of the Ossuary, awoken by the clamor, quickly dispatched the foul creatures, and found Nenerin just by their front steps. And with him they saw a massive bounty of aether stored within a body all too young and small to contain it.

Although Nenerin never could have known it at the time, the voidsent were attracted by his naturally abundant reserves of aether, and by running from his home, he drew the creatures away from his parents just quickly enough that they would not suffer the worst fate of having their aether consumed. In learning of his body's odd qualities, however, Nenerin came to resent it-- it had driven him from his home, nearly killed his parents, and now and forevermore, it would be luring voidsent to the very spot that he stood. At least, with the help of the Ossuary's thaumaturges, he could use the art of thaumaturgy to assuage the effects of natural aether sickness, as well as defend himself against the creatures that would come for his life. But... no longer would he have a place to call home.

THE TALES OF A WANDERER

If you were to ask him now, Nenerin would still say he would have rather lived a normal life at home. But at the very least, having since registered with the Adventurer's Guild and taken up many a job as a sellsword (sellstaff?), he's seen much and more than he would ever had the chance within the walls of Ul'dah. And while he still regularly deals with the pain of fending off voidsent every once in a while, he maintains his stamina and physical strength well enough that not having to throw flame and rime at a voidsent in a while no longer riddles him with sickness from aether abundance. And at the same time, his profienciency in wielding the art only lends greater strength to his natural aether reserves. Perhaps if he wasn't so high-strung, he would be a more well-known adventurer...
