Event One

Emelia was a pirate for basically her whole life, growing up on ships, going from port to port and stealing for her meals. Fleeting relationships and constant travel made it hard for her to call anywhere or anyone “home”, but she liked the freedom to go where she wished, help who she could, and explore the vast expanses of the world and see all it’s wonders and horrors. She earned a nickname, “Swan” for her signature way of feigning elegance with her ornate ship, only to bite back hard with her fighting skills.

She’d steal from supply ships (mostly cult ones) and pricey luxury cruisers alike to make her living, and did so for a good number of years till she was finally caught. She was offered a deal by the cult chapter that apprehended her to pursue other pirates causing problems for them, in exchange for her life. She did this for a time before skipping out, desperate to escape and tired of it all..

Event Two

She ends up crashing on the shore of a harbor town, and doing some town protection work to pay off the damages. While fighting off diaphon one day, an old man dies while helping her in the fight, leaving his young grandson alone. After that day the boy keeps following her around, trying to be like her, talking too much. She’s mildly irritated at first, thinks he gets himself into too much trouble, but he reminds her of herself and she thinks it’s sweet. She bonds with him over time.

The port now has nobody left capable to defend it besides her, so of course out of honor she agrees to stay. The unfamiliar feeling of responsibility and staying in one place begins getting to her, and she certainly doesn’t see herself as the good godsend hero the town seems to, so she nearly takes off one night. But she did want this, deep down, something to do that’s stable, someone to care about other than herself. So she stays for the boy. With nobody else able to, she takes him in as a son and an apprentice of sorts.
