There are three waves of Newmans: First-Wave, Second-Wave, and Third-Waves. First-Waves are comparable to humans in terms of appearances and lack of abilities. They were the only type in Radix until the Robocracy introduced a new kind of Newman that would become commonplace in the world.

Second-Waves were far different from the previous wave as they were imbued with powers such as flight or electric abilities. This wave was titled the “Children of Tomorrow” and introduced as infants at The Stork, a factory that exclusively manufactures baby Newmans.

While this sounds incredible, robots had no understanding of the love and comfort a child needs from a parent. These children were made in large quantities and raised in communal living units called HomeSchools. The HomeSchools housed up to 10 Newman children with a single Teacher robot appointed to make sure the children had basic necessities but otherwise, didn't interfere. Second-Waves grew to have the reputation of being rowdy and undisciplined in childhood and adulthood alike.

Life at HomeSchool

Gotcha was one such child living in a HomeSchool. Her HomeSchool was located right in her division's base called The Hub; a dedicated area for freshly made Newmans and tourists visiting the planet for the first time. Now, despite Gotcha being in such a perfect location for exploring, it's actually against the rules for a HomeSchooled child to step foot in Radix before they graduate. In fact, with robots leaving them to themselves, they are encouraged to live isolated lives. With her 11 years living there, Gotcha can count how many times she's seen the other children on her hand.

Gotcha lived in her room alone for many years before she quickly grew tired of the monotony of HomeSchool life. When telling her Teacher bot about it, she was offered a number of hobbies to learn. One of the options was the very niche Radix hobby "gaming" which she ended up choosing.

She was very fond of these, enjoying titles such as “White Knight” and “Pocket Monstaz.” Her favorites had to be the latter, however, as she loved the idea of having a companion to battle with. This is when she discovered her very own power: the ability to summon said creatures out of their games with all of their stats. This kept her entertained for quite some time, playing her favorite games for hours and summoning the creatures within for dress up parties.

However, video games just aren't very popular on Radix, thus the bot that produces them doesn't get a lot of power ro make more. Eventually, Gotcha would play the same games to completion over and over for years until her restlessness returned.

Around her 11th birthday, Gotcha realized she couldn't wait 3 more years in HomeSchool wihout seeing what it's like to live on Radix! Using one of her digital friends, she was able to dupe her Teacher bot and successfully escape for the night! The Hub was abuzz that night with a new phenonmenon called Power Battles, a craze where Newmans would battle each other for sport with the possibility of being sponsored by a Robocracy member. When Gotcha witnessed this, she was HOOKED. It was like the things in her games but in real life! As she was found and carted off back to Homeschool, all she could think about was getting immersed in the world of Power Battling.

Using one of her digital friends, she was able to dupe her Teacher bot and successfully escape into the night during Fritz. At this time, Power Battling was getting so big that the Robocracy appointed a Robot to moderate it.

Despite the fact she was revved up and ready to go, the stupid moderator wouldn’t let her compete because her digital monsters were “cOpYrIgHt InFrInGeMeNt”. She was met with an ultimatum: make her own original monster or stop trying to compete. Gotcha was inconsolible. DRAW?! She didn't know HOW to draw.

However, her little game system did have a drawing feature, allowing her to summon whatever she made into reality like any other digital creature. For the next week, she slaved over her console night and day to produce a monster that was sure to take her to victory. After she was finally done and looked upon her creation, she realized something.

Her drawing sucked ass.

Discouraged, she’s decided to halt her quest for an exciting adventure temporarily.

And by temporarily, she means she’s trying again tomorrow. Audios can't say no forever!

Presently, Gotcha has gotten even more bold in her efforts to become a top battler. She’s achieved this by lurking around spots where Power Battlers fight and tackling Audios as soon as he materializes. Now despite being a 100% flawless plan, she hasn't been able to keep him in one place to get him to make her a Power Battler and unfortunately trying to beat him senseless wasn't helping.

That was until she ran into a girl named Lo-Fi. Through some good old-fashioned puppy dog eyes, she was able to convince her to engage in a Power Battle. When the Audios appeared to spectate, the girls simply refused to end the match, trapping him there. It was an extreme oversight on the Robocracy's part that Gotcha was able to use to her advantage.

To get rid of them, Audios made a proposal: beat up his superior and he'd not only make them both Power Battlers, but would also sponsor them. Sponsors are incredibly big deal in Radix as they guaranteed instaneous respawns and perks like priority transportation across the world. The offer was too good to turn down! Gotcha accepted immediately, much to Lo-Fi's dismay.

Since Power Battling was such a new system in Radix, the Robocracy had yet to work out the kinks, meaning that technically, fighting robots wasn't against the rules. However, this robot wasn't the civil community serving bots as seen on Radix's service. This one was a MASSIVE cube in charge of looking over all Newmans for any kind of Anti-Robocracy propaganda. So clearly, this was the perfect robot to take down. However, miraculously Gotcha, with the help of Lo-Fi and KaleidoKat, was able to take down the threat and gain a new friend named White Knight. ExE!

Motivated by her win, she’s made it her personal goal to not only become the best Battler in the galaxy but also beat up the corrupt members of the Robocracy! Her wild behavior has already caught the attention of some high-ranking members, such as her now sponsor Cablecast, who is keeping a very close eye on her as she and her friends try to destroy the Robocracy.

She has no way to determine just how dangerous her pursuit will be or the foes that she will encounter on her journey! However, that’s not gonna stop her from taking on the challenge! As long as she's with her friends, she's powerful!

Gotcha’s most prominent trait is her determination! Once she sets her mind to do something, there’s just no stopping her. She’s also incredibly self-assured, choosing to hype herself up before she jumps into action. She is always encouraging her friends to do their best like a natural leader. She’s very free-spirited and will find a way to have fun in any situation even if the circumstances are less than ideal.

While her fierce attitude is an excellent trait for her, it can be a weakness for the rest of her party. Gotcha can be incredibly difficult because of her stubbornness. Making her do anything she doesn’t want is a challenge and a half, even when it is in her best interest. She doesn’t take authority well and will argue with someone if she believes she’s correct, leading to many tantrums and hissy fits. Her eagerness also causes her to rush into situations that she is unprepared for.

In addition to her fierce second-wave attitude, Gotcha also suffers a lot of trauma from her upbringing. She is very uncomfortable being alone after time spent with the party, and she will ruin their plans to be with the others.

The years spent with the party really were essential for Gotcha to become the person she is later in life. By being a part of such a loving and supportive community, Gotcha herself was able to learn important lessons of patience and understanding. She no longer attacks first but instead tries her best to solve conflicts from a place of love. She's also calmed down significantly from the raging 11-year-old that she used to be. In fact, she gets really embarrassed whenever anybody mentions it!

The planet of Radix did leave mental scars within Gotcha that she has yet to try and process. However, with her family and loved ones by her side, she knows it'll be another battle she can beat!
