About
Fort is a wealthy, powerful Rifted. They are most well-known as the owner of the casino in the center of Bastion. However, Bastion is essentially theirs, their own city that they built basically from the ground up. They hold most of the power and influence there, and as a result, are one of the most powerful and influential individuals in the multiverse. However, they prefer not to throw that reputation around, instead letting it be passed around via the anxious whispers of those who have crossed them.
Background
Fort hails from a different multiverse entirely. They were apparently made in a laboratory of some sort, though they aren't keen on sharing the details. They are one of only two outside individuals in the Rifted multiverse to come from that multiverse, but they seem right at home where they are, and reluctant to talk about their original home.
Ancestry, magic, and shapeshifting
Fort, in addition to rift-magic, has picked up necromancy. They don't use it in the same ways you'd expect, often simply bargaining for souls and using them for a time until the contract says they have to release them to the afterlife. They don't typically meddle with manipulating remains, only being interested in what powers souls offer them.
Relationships
Abby [ Adopted child ]
Fort knew their own reputation, and was thoroughly surprised when Abby asked them of all people for help. This intrigued them, and on a whim they decided to help her. Quickly, Fort became attached to the noxlian, and soon they began behaving as an adoptive parent rather than a disinterested business-owner.
Sylvelle [ Enemy ]
Fort and Sylvelle hold irreconcilable personal beliefs, and Fort has often had to stave Sylvelle off. However, the two have occasionally found common ground and worked together out of necessity.
Josh [ Common interests ]
Fort helped Josh find refuge after he ran away from his old master. Ultimately the two have only a businesslike relationship, but they both are interested in obstructing Josh's old master, for different reasons.
Pian [ Native to same multiverse ]
Rabbitfolk are not native to the Rifted multiverse. Fort and Pian are the only two to be seen, both brought by becoming Rifted. Fort seems to have a distaste for Pian, but no active ill will.
The Huntress [ Allowed them to live ]
Fort is one of the few non-chimera in existence to meet the Huntress and live to tell the tale. Of course, they smugly don't tell the tale, except that it happened and that she found them impressive.
Kokabiel [ Acquaintance ]
Fort hasn't met Kokabiel often but is interested in her as they are both outsiders to the Rifted multiverse.
Sprocket [ Occasional contractor ]
Fort has occasionally hired the services of Sprocket and his crew.
Sylvie [ Enemy ]
Like Sylvelle, Fort and Sylvie held irreconcilable personal beliefs. Fort had more trouble staving off Sylvie than Sylvelle, as Sylvie was more idealistic and less practical than Sylvelle.
Velvet [ Business partner ]
Fort sees how Velvet's skills in cooking bring in customers, and being a shrewd business owner, has allowed him many opportunities for him to expand his work to Bastion. Fort knows Velvet's terms, and has elected to leave him to his own devices to do as he pleases.
Kuo [ Civilized conflict of interest ]
Fort likes to collect souls, and often writes soul payments into their contracts when the client is willing. They are aware this agitates Kuo, and that they toe a line close to being Kuo's enemy, but make sure to follow all of death's rules, including eventually allowing the souls they collect to pass on to the afterlife.
