After being revealed and released in 2008 iPod had a happy life for a few years being used all the time and having fun! That was until 2014 when he was abandoned entirely and put away never to be seen again.
Of course, he still lived his but he got depression and that lasted a while until he started to cheer up. Then his depression was permanent on July 27, 2017, after Apple discontinued the iPod Nano and effectively killing the iPod. Depressed by this he decided to turn himself off and wait for good to happen. This depression lasted for so long civilization was long past the year 2017.
During this time he was put in a Goodwill ready to be bought at any time. Enter Arcade Machine someone who was also looking for a friend so he checks out the electronics and found iPod. He turned iPod on and a bond was permanently set from there. iPod soon got out of his depression and has found many cool opportunities like DJing and music-making. He is a happy iPod now.
DevelopmentiPod came as a need for Arcade to have a sidekick. I always imagined the 2 to always being together no matter what and compensating for each other's weaknesses. Of course, though his design was not easy to come up with, for a temporary design I recolored Carbuncle from Puyo Puyo red and called him Oggle, Then one day I looked at my iPod Nano Gen 4 and got inspired to make an OC based off it and it clicked that he should be Arcade's partner. It was all set in done from there.
Trivia _- iPod was originally a red Carbuncle known as Oggle which was always meant to be a temp design for what I wanted the character to be
- The Oggle name did stay for a bit after the design was finalized but was dropped
- I also wanted iPod to wear goggles but that was dropped and put on Aariyeh instead
- iPod was also supposed to be more of a builder but that role was later given to Maxilian
- Something interesting that inspired iPod's personality was the Super Bubble Pop song Journey to Planet DJ. I always imagined the song working as a character theme song for a calm, well-spoken, but also party loving dude.
