Sharkjaw

Large stocky broad shouldered tom with black and white markings and amber eyes. Short hair with a short stumpy tail his most intimidating factor is the amount of scars on his body and his large size.

Large scars decorate the right side of his body along his face, forearm and rear leg. He walks with a heavy limp and when running he is easily unbalanced by a well timed paw swipe. His right eye is blind due to the large scar that cuts up his face and his jaw is misaligned leaving some teeth to stick out like tusks at all times.

Quiet and grumpy this tom is normally quick to snap at little things that bring him displeasure or any rowdy clanmates. Behind his back his clanmates often joke saying that every night he puts burrs in his nest so he has something to be grumpy about in the morning yet this is not the case. In actuality he uses anger as a defense mechanism because of his low self esteem due to his injuries. He works hard in order to prove his loyalty and worth to the clan and secretly fears that one day he will be kicked out of the clan one day and he will have to come crawling back to his father.

He has a soft spot for kits and when given the opportunity he will play with them and give them badger rides. Around those special felines that he has feelings for, he will be stubborn and silent around them to avoid letting them see his flaws and try to keep his distance. They wouldn't like him anyway so its best to keep his distance. Once persued by these felines though his outer exterior quickly crumbles and he becomes a flustered dysfunctional mess. As a mentor he is seemingly harsh and cold, pushing his apprentice to their limit and making them break it but he only wants the best for them and wont actually push them to the point of serious harm.

Born to a kittypet named Vix and given to his father Reedbelly once Vix realized she did not want to care for him, Reedbelly took him back to the clan under the guise that he found an abandoned kit by the forest line. He was taken in by Turtlefur, Reedbelly's mate who just recently lost one of her kits. There he was raised with his new siblings Palmkit(tom) and Crabkit(she) up until he became an apprentice. During this time he was very close with all members of his family, especially Reedbelly

In his early stages of apprenticeship however, rumors began to spread that his father Reedbelly was having an affair with a kittypet. Turtlefur did her best to keep her children away from the rumors however one stormy afternoon after Tidepaw caught his first fish and was beaming to show his father, Reedbelly and a strange she-cat was hauled into camp by a furious patrol. Reedbelly confessed to their leader in front of the entire clan that he was having an affair with this cat who he confirmed was Vix, the mother of Tidepaw, and that she was expecting once more. He requested that he and Vix would be allowed to leave peacefully so they could return back to her nest where she would be safe. The clan went into an outrage, Tidepaw and his family were absolutely shattered by this turn of events however the leader agreed to these terms and deemed him exiled from the clan. Right as the two were about to be escorted out by a patrol, Tidepaw interviened and flew into a fit of rage, tearing his fathers left ear before he was pulled off by the deputy and held back as he watched his father leave, the smell of his freshly spilled blood lingering in the air.

This incident simply opened a can of worms for young tidepaw who now knew the truth behind his bloodline and felt like he had no one to look up to during his youth. This also led for him to begin being bullied by the other apprencices and warriors did nothing to step in, feeling as if they were simply just playing around or secretly feeling as if tidepaw deserved this behavior as well. All this bullying lef him to lash out against those that truly cared for him, including his adoptive siblings, adoptive mother, his mentor and his best friend Mantapaw. One night after being sent back to camp to clean elders of ticks after unsheathing his claws on another apprentice during training, a group of apprentices woke tidepaw up and told him that if he could prove himself worthy of being in waveclan they would stop messing with him. This sparked a light in him and he willingly agreed. The task they told him to do was to close his eyes for 30 seconds, sneak out of camp, meet them by the ocean and swim to tailpoint rock, a rocky formation protruding from the rough waves and often surrounded by fish yet dangerous currents. He managed to sucessfully squirm his way out of camp from a hole in the apprentice den and made his was quietly out to the beach. He refused to make eye contact with the other snickering apprentices as he plunged into the waves, fighting the currents as he swam out to the rocks. He has just made contact with the rock and was about to turn and swim back to shore when something suddenly latched onto his leg and pulled him other, eyes widening in fear before he was fully under. it was a young shark pup, only slightly bigger than him but it was much more stronger and experienced in fighting the waves than he was. It was a bloody fight, the pup managing to bash him against the rocks while he fought for his life. By the grace of starclan he managed to survive long enough for teeth to grab his scruff and haul his mangled sore body out of the water.

He barely survived the next day, after losing a lot of blood and the will to keep fighting any longer it took all the work of the clans medicine cat to keep him alive long enough for him to recover enough to survive. He never fully healed however, as large scars covered the right side of his body, damaging his jaw and blinding him in his right eye. He walks with a permanent limp and keeps his forepaw off the ground as much as possible unless fighting, claiming to feel jolts of sharp pain up the limb when under heavy use. His warrior ceremony was delayed by 3 moons and if things couldnt get any worse for him, when the other apprentices were named warriors his name was changed to sharkpaw. This strengthened his resentment for his clan greatly as he pushed away others to busy himself constantly with duties and training. Finally after a battle with a rouge gang that attempted to settle down on Tideclans territory, he finally was named given his warrior name, Sharkjaw.
