Chelle is a sanitized octoling that aimlessly roams the Deepsea Metro's tunnels. Chelle exhibits a surprising amount of free will, and uses it to attempt to steer new test subjects away from the Telephone.
Chelle is selectively mute and primarily uses ASL to communicate with those around her.
Skills
Fluent in ASL
Chelle learned ASL - or the cephalopod equivalent - from various mute or deaf Denizens of the Deep before her sanitization. After said sanitization, she became selectively mute because of her insecurity. The procedure had made her voice robotic to a chilling degree, and had a tendency to scare those not used to her current vocal tones - so she opted to not speak at all, save for with her closest friends. The skill has proven useful, though, both to communicate with mute or deaf people, and to communicate silently.
Resourcefulness
On the run from Kamabo Corporation, Chelle has learned to create secret hideouts to seek refuge in that are scattered throughout the corporation's maintenance tunnels. She has a fair grasp on construction and can more often than not cobble together a respectable hiding place with just what's lying around in the abandoned halls. This also helps her create makeshift tools and taught her to repair her own cybernetics - though the second point requires some more delicate equipment that she risks her life for on occasion.
Knowledge of Kamabo Corp's Layout
While running from the Telephone's forces, Chelle has had to adapt to the many tunnels and passages in Kamabo Corporation. She has enough of a grasp on the layout to know which places are safe and which aren't, but isn't the best at mapping the place out.

Story
Chelle originated from the Octarian Domes, hailing from a family of laborers who would perform maintenance and upkeep. Following a series of earthquakes, Chelle and her mother fell into the Deepsea Metro when Chelle was 18.
The two of them lost all of their memories and were inducted into the Kamabo Testing Program to reclaim them, with Chelle being Test Subject No. 5431. Chelle knew somehow that she and 5430 were connected, even without her memories. Following a mem cake detailing 5430 teaching Chelle how to build a chair, she realized that 5430 was her mother and that she needed to protect her. However, not long after this realization, 5430 was sanitized for the Telephone to use as a maintenance worker for Kamabo Corporation's test chambers. Enraged, Chelle struck at the Telephone - only to get captured and sanitized for her transgression.
Miraculously, whether it was her tenacity or some sick twist of fate, Chelle displayed a surprising amount of free will after her sanitization, refusing to be controlled by the Telephone. The instant she found the opportunity, Chelle fled into Kamabo Corporation's mazelike maintenance tunnels. Swearing not to let a repeat of her mother's fate occur, Chelle made an oath to protect any new arrivals to the Deepsea Metro.
Despite her attempts, various other test subjects that arrived in the metro also were sanitized. Chelle's failures were catalogued and mocked by the Telephone, typically with promises that whenever Chelle gave up at last, the Telephone would erase her memories of her failed attempts and make her join her mother in the Telephone's forces. Chelle continues to fight in search of a way to at last break free from the loop, and hopefully break out all those trapped in the Deepsea Metro for good.
Personality
Chelle, having dealt with her own fair share of hardships in the Deepsea Metro, is a softspoken and shy girl. Her appearance has frightened several others and damaged her self esteem, but despite it all she tries to do the right thing no matter what. Whenever there are others in need of help, she steps in.
After meeting others who accept her despite her initial appearances, Chelle has become a little more vocal and confident. She still appears to have some apprehension - especially regarding the Telephone - but it looks almost like she's able to breathe easy with Aris, Tris, and Mako with her. She has adapted a responsible big sister-ly role within the group.
Relationships
• Mako and Bitsy • Friend •
Being older than the shark afficionado, Chelle has grown very protective of both Mako and Bitsy. Having broken the younger octoling out of testing containment and helping them with adjusting their cybernetics, Chelle has come to think of Mako like a younger sibling and has gone out of her way to make them more comfortable in the various hideouts the group hides in.
• Aris • Friend •
While still a bit of a mystery to her, Chelle thinks of Aris as an ally and close friend. She doesn't quite get where the emperor dumbo octoling's ego and unearned confidence comes from, but is there to get Aris out of trouble whenever necessary. Chelle is grateful to Aris for finding and keeping Mako safe for the brief period between breaking Mako out and meeting them properly face to face, though is also a bit miffed at the octoling's penchant for breaking things and encouraging bad habits. Despite it all, Chelle considers Aris a friend through and through.
• Tris • Friend (and Crush..?) •
Having met Tris while fleeing from Kamabo forces, Chelle quickly warmed up to the octoling. Tris has helped Chelle get out of very tough spots before, and even aided in the jailbreak of Mako and Bitsy. In return, Chelle swore to help Tris in any way she knew how - which, as it turned out, just resulted in the two hanging out a lot sharing soft drinks from vending machines. Over time, feelings of affection began to grow in Chelle's heart...
• Eve • Daughter Of •
Eve's youngest daughter. Chelle cares fiercely for her mother, amplified further by her father's neglect over the years. As the two of them tested together within the Deepsea Metro, Chelle remembered who her mother was and wanted to protect her. In the future, Chelle gets to live happily on the surface with Eve again, this time surrounded by the friends she made in Kamabo.
