Created in 1978, the arcade game "RUTHLESS" was an alien-based first person shooter where players took control of Pearson Skylark, a battle-hardened astronaut stranded on a desolate earth. The Beacon was the final boss, and it was an impossibly difficult foe to beat. It's unmatched speed and ability to blind the player meant that, more often than not, contenders who tried their hand at the game would find themselves granted little beyond a GAME OVER. But many would choose to lose countless times in the game than to encounter this horrifying predator face-to-face in the waking world.

Ripped right from the game and into existence through unknown means, The Beacon now hunts down its singular entity of prey, an obsessive desire that overtakes nearly all forms of sentience or higher thought; or at least, so it appears.
