Weelz is the only mechanic working in The Neon District.
They find themselves busy most of the time as their work is in high demand, but they never let others push them around. They are very aware of their worth and aren't afraid to make others aware of it as well. Usually though, when not working, they're seen with their best friend Jaws. Together they roam the streets visiting new and up-and-coming shops in The District while also making time to harass their acquaintances.
Then end up bored pretty often and always find themselves looking for ways to entertain themselves.
Machinist: Working on cars, motorcycles, and most other forms of automobile is Weelz' specialty. Their knowledge and ability to build these machines from basically scraps while also making them aesthetically pleasing is unparalleled.
Con: Weelz isn't techincally charming or particularly agreeable, but what they lack in social etiquette they make up for in the game of sales. Their past working at a big corporate entity has proven useful in this single regard.
Speed Racer: Working on cars gives Weelz an edge in local street races and they find themselves at the top of that leaderboard. Racing against their own creations is more a test to their own handiwork rather than pure egotism.
Born in Japan as Karina Miura, she never felt 'at home' growing up. Having a white mother and a Japanese father made them slightly outcasted simply by existing with most of their peers. All through elementary, middle, and high school she stayed mostly to herself, not keeping any close company. After graduating they went straight into college, following their mother's footsteps and getting a degree in engineering.
That degree went mostly unused as their first job they settled into was a corporate cell career. They spent most of their days taking calls and typing irrelevant words into a computer for what seemed like no reason at all. Their work life became more and more turbulent as they found their co-workers to be less than well intentioned, often harassing her physically or making inappropriate comments on their appearance.
Hobbyist
The only light in their tunnel was their hobby. The only place Karina ever felt comfortable was learning about or watching cars. After work they'd take their time walking home to look closely at parked cars or to fiddle with abandoned bikes. At home they assembled miniature cars and motorcycles, eventually working their way up to being able to understand the build and quality of any car on their street.
They spent a lot of time at car shows and browsing the internet for old unusable car scraps to buy so they could examine individual pieces up close. They never worked up the nerve to build a real vehicle before finding themselves in The District, but their intimate knowledge was their shining savior.
The District
After finding themselves in The District, Weelz finally felt peace. No more were the days of daily harassment or seemingly never-ending streams of useless words and data. They were confused, lost, and scared but they felt at home for the first time. As most people are in The District, they were treated harshly upon arriving, not many people could afford to be kind, but they didn't care. It wasn't until after three months of nearly starving to death and scrounging they noticed the lack of vehicles in The District. Their empire began right then and there.
- Weelz enjoys eating fermented foods because it was what their dad ate every morning for breakfast when they were growing up.
- Their engineering degree plays a huge role in what they are able to do.
- Weelz's favorite kind of vehicle is the motorcycle, especially in The District as it's good for weaving through tight spaces.
- They don't enjoy sweet foods.
- Alongside vehicles they are also interested in building technology.
Jaws •
best friend
Weelz's best, only, and first friend as well as their only 'business partner'(they give each other free stff). Their biggest source of comfort when things go ary. They find themselves wondering if they could've been friends before The District.
