Drake Silverman

Drake grew up to be the middle child of four. He was the only son out of his three sisters making it hard to connect at times, but he got along with them rather well. While they were pretty spoiled through their right upbringing, Drake developed a great respect for money through his father’s efforts in getting his son to follow his footsteps. His younger sister Emma was the one he got along with the most and kept in contact with, beyond family meets, after moving out.

Drake had to carry a lot of weight on his shoulders with his family name. A name that was very well known among the wealthy. He tried his hardest to keep his grades up while being homeschooled by experienced tutors. However, Drake craved the social life and experience of making friends as well as the routine of physically going to school. It took him a while to convince his parents to sign him up for a normal school life, although very much tailored to the rich, he eventually got to attend a private all boys school.

After graduating school with a major in business his future was already laid out for him by his father, and he started working alongside him at their company. While spending more time with his father was great, as he was raised by nannies for the majority of his life, he also got to see a rougher side to his father in order to prepare him for the real responsibility this path brings. He enjoyed his work thoroughly and became much closer to his father than ever before, even finding his significant other at the reception. A trainee named Debbie ended up being Drake’s special someone and supported him when the news dropped that his father would be retiring and pass on the legacy to his only son. Drake adjusted fairly well with his new position as the head of the company. Things were going great and soon enough, he married his love, Debbie.

A year after their wedding, and trying for a while, Debbie had great news. She was pregnant. Drake always longed to have a family and its finally happening. It turned out to be a baby girl and once born, they planned to name her Lexi. Unfortunately, seven months into Debbie’s pregnancy, tragedy struck. Debbie passed in a fatal car accident when a drunk driver hit their new family car head on while she was on the way home from getting groceries. Paramedics tried everything in their power to at least save the baby but to no avail. With this loss Drake buried himself in his work, with no intention of finding someone again. He couldn’t imagine bearing this loss again.

During his time of grief, Drake spent nights at the office and didn’t really engage in social activities anymore. Noone really noticed but his sister Emma. Out of all his siblings she was the only one that cared and visited Drake to keep an eye on him. While Emma encouraged Drake to go outside and try his luck at finding love again, he refused. He wasn’t ready or willing to deceive and move on from his late wife. He had his future planned out with Debbie and couldn’t imagine any other face in this picture.

Years pass and Drake settled into a normal life again. Still not looking for love but coming to terms with what happened he was content with how his life was going. Until one night, just a few days before Christmas. He was writing Christmas cards to family and friends, since his tight schedule and a snowstorm didn’t make a flight to visit them possible. Fortunately, the mailbox was just outside his house but when he stepped outside, he discovered a little basket on his doorstep. After taking a quick look inside he dropped his cards and took it back inside, rushing to fuel up the fireplace. In the basket was a little baby, abandoned, out in the winter cold. It felt like he was meant to find this little bundle on Christmas. The time of love and giving, so he decided to give this little baby girl the gift of love, a safe home and the name Lexi, like the baby he was supposed to have long ago.

Drake loved Lexi to bits and raised her as his own. He took care of her and finally realized the family plans he had with his late wife. He sent Lexi to an all-girls school and despite not being as present as other parents because of his demanding work, he was the best father Lexi could have wished for. With time and once Lexi was old enough, he decided to tell her that he wasn’t her biological father, but Lexi didn’t care, he was still her dad no matter the circumstances. And eventually, he gifted her a piece of paper. Through the help of a few friends, he handed her a birth certificate and signed adoption papers, stating Drake as her father officially.

Once Lexi moved out, he felt that something was missing. Of course, he kept in close contact with his daughter but with getting older he did feel like the family could be more than just him and Lexi. One day, getting his usual bag of fresh farm produce at the local market, something clicked when looking at the farmer that he bought his vegetables and eggs from. Ava Caldwell, she suddenly looked oddly familiar despite them having lengthy conversations before and getting quite close over the occasional coffee. Through some subtle questioning he concluded that that Ava might be Lexis biological mother. Unsure of how to feel, after not having found this kind of comfort in a person ever since his wife died. He decided to take things slow. He preferred giving Lexi the time to find Ava herself if she ever wanted to, which she eventually did.

After Lexi met her boyfriend Travis, she decided to take on the search for her mother. Encouraged and supported by Travis they decided to visit her and spend a few days at her farm for both of them to rekindle and catch up, explaining why she initially abandoned her child and finding out it was in no way Ava decision at the time. She was heartbroken over the loss of her child, something Drake and Ava bonded over in their previous conversations as well.

While Ava had met Lexis boyfriend now. Drake only knew him through conversations with Lexi and the occasional sound of his voice on the phone. Lexi told Drake he was a very hard-working man with a very important job, it reassured Drake but also made him curious as Lexi stressed the fact that her boyfriend is “very big” and Drake shouldn’t need to be scared. Every father feels the need to approve of their daughter’s boyfriend, right? Fortunately, without having to seem pushy, Travis offered to meet over dinner at his place to introduce himself.

When Drake arrived, he was pleasantly surprised at the large estate Travis lived at and the fancy car in the driveway gave Drake a point of conversation to avoid awkward silence. The moment the door opened his heart sank a bit. This dude was massive and scary looking at that, worried his daughter might have gotten into some mafia boss’ pants he nervously shook hands and came in. All this worry settled a bit seeing the two smile at each other and dish up the dinner her Travis cooked. Turns out not only mafia bosses are large and scary looking, head of military was Travis’ actual job description and it made sense needing a stern facade for such a serious job. Drake was just happy that his daughter was happy, that was all that matters.

After finding out over dinner that Lexi had found her mother, telling Drake that they should meet up some time, he was relieved. He could tell Lexi wished for a family, mother and father, and what better way to do that than coupling her step-dad with her mother? Lucky for her Drake has been thinking about nothing else but that. After a few weeks and talking about it together extensively, Drake and Ava decided to tell Lexi that they were enjoying the thought of being together. Lexis response was joy, fully supportive of her father finding love with someone again and having her mother back in her life. They were all lacking a bit of family, and with time they were finally able to say they found it again.
