Basic Info

Lexi is an outgoing, brave and smart woman who puts her friends and family first. Her hobbies are all over the place and constantly changing as she struggles to keep on one thing while she is still figuring herself out. She is a soft-spoken person although not afraid to speak her mind or snap back at anyone who is rude or just being an ass to her or people she cares for.

Lexi is a stress smoker: She smokes normally but if put under stress or in a panic she will chain smoke until she feels better and is relaxed. Though if she is in a calm setting or is with people she trusts she will hardly smoke at all unless offered.

Backstory (Slight TW)

Ava Caldwell, Lexis mother, was rushed to the hospital after going straight into labor. Unfortunately, her father Noah was not very fond of becoming a father and has made that very clear numerous times during her pregnancy. With the hours dragging on Ava started to face complications during childbirth that rendered her unresponsive for the most part of the birth and after. Noah took this opportunity to take the perfectly healthy baby they just had and rush it outside of the premise. He dropped the little bundle off on a doorstep that night and wrote it off to the staff and Ava as someone that had stolen their child, giving them a chance to start over given their existing financial struggles. The unnamed child went missing, and her parents didn’t really look back.

That night was just a few days away from Christmas. Dropped on the snowy steps of a stranger’s house, close enough to the hospital, she wouldn’t have survived if the man residing there didn’t exit his door to drop off some Christmas mail for his family. Drake Silverman discovered the small basket on his steps and upon looking inside for just a second, he went back in through the door as fast as he came out.

December 20th Drake was seemingly gifted a child for early Christmas. Unsure of how to handle the situation but knowing how cruel orphanages can be, he decided to raise her as his own. Finding her was something that hit close to home for Drake. After losing his pregnant wife in a terrible car accident just a year ago, finding this child felt like fate to him so he named her Lexi, after the child he would have had with his late wife.

Lexi grew up pretty normal, despite Drake not really lacking the finances, she grew up modest as he put great value into teaching her respect for money and the work that needs to be put into earning it. However, being a successful businessman and single father doesn’t mix too well. Due to the nature of his work he had to travel abroad quite often, and the more school called for her attendance the less he was able to take her alongside him. With the intent of socializing and still receiving valuable education, Drake signed her up for an all-girls boarding school and Lexi was fine with that, after all, she might find a few new friends there.

Years passed and around the time Lexi was 12 she started to go home after classes again instead of staying in the dorms. Drake stopped going abroad to spend more time with her and play a bigger part in raising her other than the occasional visit or summer break vacations. During that time, however, Drake’s sister Emma broke the news that she got engaged to her boyfriend Joe a few years prior and would now start planning a wedding that Drake and Lexi are welcomed to attend. Together they planned venues, houses and other things that come with being married and having a wedding, during this Lexi really enjoyed spending time with her aunt Emma and uncle Joe. Two years later, planning has started to realize more and more into booking venues and catering, fitting dresses and suits and picking the theme for the bridesmaids, that sparked the idea for Emma to ask Lexi to be her bridesmaid. Excitedly she accepted and picked dresses and colors with Emma together.

However, Lexis kindhearted nature seemed to be drastically mistaken by Joe during the time she started to be more present for the planning. Making odd and strangely sexual remarks towards her, brushing through her hair, and getting touchy with her all the while complimenting her looks in particular. This went on for a few months as Lexi grew to resent him and her looks. Uncomfortable with her appearance and the comments she cut her curly long hair to chin length and started to lose confidence in her body dressing in baggy clothes to hide. She chose to stay longer in school or outside of the house more often than usual. Once the time came she openly refused to be the bridesmaid for the wedding and faked being seriously sick for days just to skip attending. After the wedding she convinced Drake to let her stay back at the boarding school under the pretense of missing her friends just to avoid Joe’s occasional visits.

After the sudden shift that Lexi has shown, Drake decided to homeschool her, thinking it came from bullying and stress during her time at the boarding school or general mental health issues. Drake started taking her on trips selling classic cars and seemingly uncovered her love for them. Two more years passed, and it became time for Lexi to move on to college, business to be precise as Drake assumed with her experience from their travels it might come in handy. This was the time she really found herself again, picking up activities like boxing and yoga and socializing. After meeting her new best friends Kat, Riley and Joy, she grew much more confident in her own world again. With Kat’s help she also discovered that she was bisexual, giving her a newfound interest in keeping her looks up. Although, after a year or so Lexi decided to drop out of college and find work in the area. She just couldn’t really see herself working a 9 to 5 office job all day every day, so she got a job at a local bar that was owned by one of Drake’s close friends.

After working at the bar for just a few months and enjoying the new people she saw and met, finally affording her own apartment just across the street of her workplace, she noticed a rather tall man enter the bar almost every night, carrying a suitcase and paperwork, downing drinks, and writing his reports. He didn’t talk nor even look at anything else but the papers on his table. She was intrigued and close to closing time one day she quietly set down a drink on the house hoping to pull him out of his focus, to no avail. He did take the drink though so maybe it did something since the week after he sat right at the bar. Still focused on his notepad Lexi had the chance to finally talk to the strange new man. He didn’t take very well to talking with minor responses and sudden leaves, but over time he started to place himself at the bar more often on her shifts and introduced himself as “Travis Mantis”, the part about some military weapon was definitely strange to her but she didn’t really pay mind to that, he was less off a pain in the ass than the other drunken idiots.

A few years passed and the obviously stressed and strange man has started to open up more like he just learned how to talk to people through her. She really enjoyed talking to him, and he seemingly enjoyed talking to her unlike others that thought some sweet talk could get her into bed, usual bar talk. They have grown to become good friends, having a coffee occasionally outside of late-night bar chatter. However, after meeting his newest girlfriend Samantha she felt a sense of sadness, it was surprising to her how much it sank her heart to see him with someone. She didn’t even think about wanting to date him all this time before but now, seeing that woman with him, she felt like she missed her shot. It didn’t last long and turns out Sam and her got along great as friends, going shopping, and bantering about him a little to wind him up later at the bar.

But a few months passed, she had noticed Travis carrying higher workloads day by day and seemingly dazed and more drunk than usual most of the time, one day a new girl tagged alongside him. Again, Lexi felt this overwhelming dread of “What if she is his one” and she missed out again, she just couldn’t help it, she loved talking to him and hanging out, she wouldn’t want to risk it by asking him out, maybe she isn’t his type. She had to watch Travis come and go with his new girlfriend Sophie, she was nice but a little strange, seemingly… on something. Suddenly Travis just fell off the face of the earth for months. He didn’t text, didn’t call and wasn’t seen in the bar or even more concerning, not at work. Carefully asking his friend James and Samantha, no one really knew what was going on and turning up at his house resulted in the security alarm blaring through the neighborhood.

Almost half a year passed, and Lexi went back to her routine life while still mourning the disappearance of what was maybe the first love of her life. He was tall, handsome and although dry had a good sense of humor and sarcasm. She always wanted a man that could sweep her off her feet, thinking that was an absurd dream with herself being taller than most of the guys that she sees at the bar. When one night a kind of disheveled figure ducked in through the door holding some kind of basket and sitting at the back of the bar with his paperwork. Could it be? He was back, with… a baby carrier? Immediately Lexi ditched the bar to rush over and interrogate Travis for just disappearing on her and everyone, almost scolding him for being so careless, before calming down frowning at his appearance. The usually well put together Dr. Mantis looked like he hadn’t slept since the day she last saw him, wrinkles in his shirt and a loose tie. Even more shocked when she looked over to see the content of the carrier, a little baby girl. After some catching up, she found out that him and Sophie had an unplanned child and for some reason he was now alone to take care of it as Sophie just “couldn’t take it” he said. Knowing the amount of work and kind of person he is, Lexi offered to help anywhere she could, babysitting, cleaning up at his home, cooking. She almost immediately felt a motherly instinct to help both. She knew he is not a fan of children even worse babies, but the way he looked at this little girl surprised her as much as it did him. “You can keep it if you want, but if you hurt it, I will kill you” was what Travis said to her after her offer as she ended her shift, and they went to his place together.

A few years pass and very slowly things went back to normal, arguably better for Travis. Lexi was spending a lot of time with him and his daughter Saphira, more than she would in her own home sometimes. Travis started to love his daughter almost immediately and it only got stronger over the years, she uncovered a softer side in him, and Lexi enjoyed it thoroughly. However, she was still not over him, and the more time they spent together the more she wanted to know if it could ever work. So, one night after putting Saphira to bed she pulled her everything together and sat on the sofa next to him and confessed to him how long she has been waiting to say this, practically ever since the day they met, how it hurt to see him with someone else and how happy it makes her to be around him and sit right where they are at this very moment. Absolutely terrified and shaking like a leaf she looked up at him awaiting an answer, anything, at this point even the most random thing would pull her down on the ground. Travis genuinely smiled, which is rare to get out of him, he didn’t know she felt like this, emotionally he’s very oblivious and a little crippled, but he nodded. He always assumed he wasn’t her type or not up to par, out of her league. Especially after being left with a kid just simply undesirable, but he knew she loved Saphira and Saphira loved her like a mother she desperately needed. Love was hard for him, and he probably only really learned it through his child. He had started loving Lexi but was never able to figure out the feeling, he admitted that now he did.

With this rather intimate night they started dating, she soon moved in with him and after working at the bar just a year longer, Travis had asked her if she wanted to work for him at the military. With his leading position of the military, she could easily work as his secretary at the reception. While this might sound like an insult to some, they wouldn’t consider the generous pay, authority, and responsibility she would carry. That wasn’t even a thought in her mind though, she accepted without hesitation. Working alongside her boyfriend at a job that requires knowing him more than anything this was her dream. While he would have hired her as is, Lexi insisted to take on business college on the side while she eased her way into her new job, a few weeks of college a few days of working. She enjoyed it thoroughly and felt proud to share this with Drake as well.
