pathetic miserable little worm of a man
Charles Bright is one of the Gemstone Trio. He, along with Matteo, was responsible for the Gemstone massacre in the 1300s. He killed so many Gemstones during this time and absorbed so much magic that he gained the ability to reincarnate. In his second life, he began to regret what he had done and started trying to repair the damage he had done. He eventually was the one to open the Edel Safehouse.
In his most recent life however, Charles had had enough. Instead of returning to his work once he was old enough, he killed Matteo and ran, wanting to live a 'normal' life for once. He married Holly and had two sons, Ethan and James. However, this idealised life comes to a crashing halt when it revealed that James has Gemstone powers and has to be rushed to the safehouse. So he finds himself reluctantly dragged back into this world he tried so desperately to escape.
Charles is a proud man who can't handle being misconstrued or misinterpreted. He is cold to most people and has a blunt manner of speaking that puts many off. He is more likely to run and lie than to own up to things he's done but has been known to own up to and dig himself deeper into trouble by admitting things while trying to protect his reputation. His relationships with Matteo and Vincent and complex and impossible to define. He has had just about every kind of relationship possible with Matteo but they usually settle as rivals.
