Kanami

CLEVER • CARING • ENERGETIC

Despite her surface demeanor, Kanami is very kind in nature. When she has her guard down she's very caring, and a sarcastic jokester. In her school, she's well known for being a lot nicer then anyone thought she would be, and her drive to be a hero a lot stronger then expected from a former villain. She noticably has a strong 'big sister' drive towards the other students. She's very clever, in both her humor and classes. She has top scores despite her relaxed nature. Even with her relaxed nature she can be very energetic. A lot of what she does is on impulse, though she does use common sense still.

GRUMPY • INTIMIDATING

To outside perspectives, on particularly bad days, and in her past especially she isn't as carefree. Many people have always thought her to be grumpy, and admittedly she can be, early in the morning, or when she's upset. When she is grumpy it's not for very long, or taken out on others like it was a few years ago, she's worked hard to get better with dealing with it. Due to her history as a villain, and her strong abilities in battle, many outsiders, and even heros see her as intimidating, especially with her wings and tail making her look much bigger. It's a pretty unanimous agreement that they don't want to be pitted against her despite her being harmless to others even in mock-fights, and training.

Childhood

Born to Mayumi Ryu, and Katsu Ryu, Kanami Ryu was a middle child to a large family, with nine other siblings. With three older sisters, Kazue, Mizuki, Ran, and four older brothers, Satoru, Takeshi, Sho, and Keiji. She was the third youngest, with her youngest sisters being Avaron, and Yukine who were not born until she was six. The triplets, Ran, Satoru, and Mizuki, were all adult major villains with their parents when she was born. Kazue, Takeshi, Sho, and Keiji were all teens, with the twins Sho and Keiji slightly older. All of them minor villains.

Her childhood wasn't as bad as it would seem to an outsider. Her Mom and Dad were nice to her, and her older siblings would practically spoil all the kids, and would always tell her how cool her and her quirk were to make her happy. She was certain her family were heroes up until she was about nine. She had been playing with her little sisters and Kazue, when the cartoon on the tv was stopped in favor of an emergency announcement, Kazue was too zoned out to flick it off until it was too late, it had said that heros had fought with and accidently killed six dangerous villains, the names were unfamilar, but the faces were unmistakable. That day, what Kanami knew shattered, not only were her family villains, dangerous ones, but she had lost Mom, Dad, Ran, Takeshi, Satoru, and Keiji. Kazue, Sho, and Mizuki were the only older ones alive, and none were able to take all three little kids. Kanami was taken in by Kazue, who lived in an apartment near the hero school.

It felt wrong being in such a quiet place, without the usual arguing and laughing filling the house. Kazue was nice, but she missed the twins, and all the others. Moving to a new school away from her friends didn't help. For the next four years she was never as cheerful or energetic as she once was, rather grumpy and antisocial. Kazue had returned to work, so most days and nights she was alone, she still saw most of her other family whenever she could, the twins lived nearby with her brother Sho and her sister Mizuki was in the same apartment building as her, so she visited them almost everyday when she could

VILLIAN ERA

Before she even thought of being a hero she decided she would be a villain. She was young, and missing her family because of heroes. With her a grudge against heroes, her judgement was clouded, going into minor and middle level villany for a few years, before she moved up in severity. She worked under the alias Serpant, a well known villain who always managed to avoid capture. She worked alone, not wanting the twins to find out what she does, so she makes sure to hide who she is on tv, for them only.

Her final crime was her biggest, she was in her disguise at a TV Station. Hacking into the news broadcast with her family's help. With this power, the reason for her downward spiral into evil was revealed. Using voice tracking, heroes had caught her, arresting her, Sho, Kazue, and Mizuki. A deal was offered to her, full freedom and UA's hero course, it was something that the school decided would be better, redeeming her rather then Kanami being thrown in a cell for years.

It would have been turned down if not for her family telling her she should absolutely do it. With one added condition, she agreed to the suggestion. She couldn't leave the twins behind, nor did she want to, and with all living family gone they had no where to go. So she ajusted the deal to include the ability to have her sisters live in the dorm building with her, and for them to go to school close by.
