Poor Garrett.

Despite his unusual appearance, with one hazelnut brown eye, and one pale, puddle shine blue, he always thought of himself as an unremarkable man, and though he always blithely said he was fine with that, deep down, he wasn't. He wanted to publish a book, and he had been putting it off learning how to paint, so he could illustrate the dust jacket himself. He had many ideas for it. It was going to be about a young boy with fair blue hair, who came from the sky. Garrett liked poetry, and he had picked out some of his favorites, and memorized them, so that if he were ever lucky enough to fall in love, he could effortlessly tell his beloved them from memory, at all the right moments. On sleepy Sunday mornings, in bed. Walking through his favorite local park on a brisk Autumn evening. Over dinner, at his favorite hole in the wall restaurant where his childhood best friend, Miggs, bartends, where he already knew he would one day propose to whoever he found to tell all that poetry to. Miggs had always egged him on, telling Garrett to dream big, and doing his best to believe in him.

Garrett would now never get a chance to be anything else, besides an unremarkable man, who secretly wished to be more. One very cold Friday afternoon, as he sat down at his old laptop he kept meaning to replace and decided he would finally start on his story, the one about the fair blue haired boy who came from the sky, he would be murdered.
