The Gravedigger - Creator of Immortality

Biography:

Nightingale, posing as a long-lived fae, quickly grew to be the top member of Logan's reaper coalition. They are the organization's most reliable worker, the most likely to succeed in bringing a soul to a swift and painless end. (Geez. I wonder why.) Due to this dedication and talent, Nightingale began to be known as The Gravedigger. They don't particularly enjoy the name, but they can't exactly say that they would prefer to be called "Death" or "The Reaper". They're supposed to be undercover, so the Gravedigger name would have to do for now.

In 1862, Nightingale is tasked with an abnormal request. They are ordered to reap the soul of a vampire. This is an odd request, as vampire souls are strictly off limits for reaping under normal circumstances. They don't provide Logan with much energy, and vampires are far too dangerous to reap without good cause. Usually, a vampire is only supposed to be reaped when Logan personally decrees that he's tired of them existing. Nightingale isn't sure if this is one of those cases, or perhaps Logan just wants a clean way to dispose of his top reaper. They aren't sure, and frankly, they don't care. Disposing of a vampire should be child's play for the masquerading embodiment of death themself.

Nightingale meets the vampire, Alessia Clarke, in a dark wood. They know what she is, and she knows what their goal is. Nightingale summons their current weapon of choice, a scythe, aiming to reap the vampire in one strike. Alessia, however, is faster than they are, and she's able to sink her fangs into their neck before they can reap her soul. The scythe then makes contact with Alessia's neck. That should have been the end for the vampire, but what Nightingale sees then surprises them both. Alessia doesn't die. The wound from the scythe immediately scars over.

In letting Alessia drink their blood, Nightingale had accidentally created the first immortal- a soul unable to expire. Alessia's fang scars on their skin and their scythe scar on hers remain as proof of this. Nightingale surmises that this phenomenon is a result of their status as a god. Perhaps their own demise would lead to Alessia following soon after, but they don't exactly care to find out.

Nightingale brings Alessia to the reaper coalition, telling Logan that this seemingly ordinary vampire is unreapable. Logan seems upset by this, but begrudgingly allows Alessia to work under Nightingale for the time being. This ends in Alessia and Nightingale butting heads all the time, never agreeing on how to go by their mutual reaping jobs.

Nightingale finds themself learning how to love again. That animosity beteeen them and Alessia would soon develop into a soft romance, one that would only grow as their eternity continued to march on.

God of Death:

Despite currently being in hiding, Nightingale still holds power as the god of death. They can grow a black angelic wing on their right shoulder if they wish to. They also heal quickly from any injury, so they are pointedly very difficult to kill. Additionally, Nightingale is able to summon invisible limbs in order to aid them in reaping souls as well as more mundane tasks. Finally, as a bringer of death, Nightingale is able to quickly adapt to any weapon of destruction that they are given. This is useful, as they are not always guaranteed to have their scythe around.

Creator of Immortality:

As it was their blood that made Alessia an immortal, her life is now tied to theirs. This means that if Nightingale meets their end for any reason, Alessia will die after. The opposite is not true, as Alessia is incapable of dying before Nightingale.

Draw With:

Alessia (The Vampire): Nightingale first meets Alessia when they're tasked to reap her soul. After failing to do that as well as accidentally making her immortal in the process, Nightingale brings the vampire to the reaper coalition. Over the next years, Alessia and Nightingale are reaper partners. The two hardly get along, arguing with each other to the point where their jobs start failing to get done. Eventually, though, the two start falling for each other. Each insult turns into a term of endearment, and the two find solace in knowing that their lives are tied to each other. Nightingale eventually gives Alessia, their lily, one of the earrings that used to belong to their deceased lover Emilia. Somehow, Alessia taught Death themself how to love again, and the two couldn't be happier. Alessia and Nightingale enjoy doing each other's hair, sparring, seeing who can reap the most souls the fastest, and just watching as mortal lives go by.

Logan (The Executive): Logan is Nightingale's boss as well as their greatest enemy. Nightingale aims to kill him one day, and lucky for them, Logan is none the wiser when it comes to Nightingale's true identity as the god of death that he previously usurped. When interacting, they are sickeningly sweet towards each other. Logan needs Nightingale, and he trusts his top reaper to get the job done above all else. (Even if he does try to get them killed) The two go out drinking together often. When Logan is told of Alessia's new immortality, he is upset that Nightingale let this happen, but since he doesn't know how Alessia really became immortal, he doesn't blame Nightingale too harshly for the events occurring.

Art Ideas:

-With butterflies, specifically purple ones or monarchs (Monarch butterflies are associated with their deceased wife Emilia, so they'd be somber around them)

-Trying out a new weapon for reaping souls (They never use swords, though)

-Playing the violin

-Sitting alone in the woods and contemplating their continued existence

-At a generic mid 1800s pub, either alone or with Logan

-Summoning invisible limbs for any reason

-Feel free to make them a little deranged. They would.

-Tarot art. They're Death (Geez I wonder why)

-Light gore. It's okay, they'll get better.
