Batblister

Batblister looms over other cats uncomfortably. His pelt is black and smooth, with white markings layered on top. His nose, inner-ear, and pawpads are a diluted purple. His voice is coarse and dramatic, and his body language and expressions can sometimes completely flip depending on who he’s around. Sometimes when he moves he kinda lumbers like a hollow shell. He usually has VERY prominent dark-purple eyebags.

This bad boy can fit so many issues in it. Starting off, we’ve got his unhealthy attatchment to his sister. Batblister genuinely and wholeheartedly believes that Shinebabble can do nothing wrong, ever, in her life. Shinebabble has ALWAYS been there for him, and its just that no other cat can live up! She keeps him safe! She warns him about who he shouldn’t trust! She’s a saint on Earth, and he could never ever critisize or leaver her behind. They were supposed to stick together!

And of course, theres a whole lot of danger around she keeps him safe from. Batblister KNOWS everyone else is out to get him, because Shinebabble told him so and she is always right!! Every act of kindness from a cat he doesn’t know is immediately interpreted as hostility, as a ploy to make fun of him or hurt him somehow, and he will NOT fall for it. Its much easier to push everyone else away before they can hurt him again.

He likes to feel like he’s in control of any given situation. He’s famously poor at lying, but he tends to get away with a lot of petty crimes through other cat’s second-hand embarassment or pity.

He has a twisted view of Starclan and what its there for, seeing it as the ultimate goal and also his ultimate oppressor. Eternal life in Starclan was something promised to him since he was a kit, and seeing Starclan reject him makes him, above all else, afriad and desperate.

He acts primarily in self interest, but if he manages to get attatched to another cat, he goes all in. He swears a life oath, trying as hard as he can to make their life easier and better through little white lies and schemes. If a cat is lacking confidence, he’d start rumors about how he watched them beat up a badger all by themself! If a cat is feeling lonely, he wont rest until he’s forced all the available cats in a two mile radius to meet them. He acts best as a catalyst for other cat’s arcs, especially since his schemes usually backfire.

He’s got a charming disregard for any sort of self preservation. Batblister is the type of cat to get himself physical danger in the hopes of being tenderly patched up by a cute boy afterwards. It becomes more of an issue when he assumes everyone else feels the same way he does, and accidentally puts cats in extreme danger for silly reasons. (Be it training, losing a bet, or shits and giggles). He can’t wrap his head around the real stakes of the danger he puts others in, nor does he even start to understand when they face consequences or get injured in front of him.

Batblister’s biggest wish is to live in a really sweet isolated part of Skyclan with Cardinalbounce and their own little family. In Skyclan, he reasons, nobody thinks poorly of him! He could live just like any other regular cat, and they could be super happy and eat cute picnic food all day and go walk around the park and invite their friends over for dinner. Everything he does in the wake of Cardinalbounce’s death is in the interest of larping some sort of normal happy family.

- Batblister find comfort in cleaning and drying bones. He has a whole collection and everything. His favorite piece of art, though, is a bird's skull he'd had since he was a kit that he pretends whispers to him. He uses it as a prop, mostly to get attention, but when he gets very lonely, he likes to pretend it talks back just to behis friend.

at some point, Batblister befriended a cat named Cedarsight who had a crush on his childhood bully. Bat acted appropriately as the cattiest bitchiest girlfriend possible, encouraging him at every moment to cut things off, and insisting that his bully was NOT at all good enough for him.

Bat was born to a rogue father and a mother that died in childbirth. For four-ish moons he travelled behind his father and sister aimlessly. Their father was menacing and dangerous, and Shine took it upon herself to protect both her and her brother from his anger. Finally, they passed through Shadowclan territory, and she took the opertunity to have them run away.

In Shadowclan, Batpaw had trouble making friends, and Shinepaw used every oppertunity she could to turn him against their clanmates. It didn't help that he was also the victim of a bullying campaign at the paws of the leader's son and his friends. They'd put thorns in his nest, throw pinecones at him, and knock his stuff into the lake! In retaliation, Batpaw tricked one of them into getting mauled by a dog, and Shinepaw attempted to murder another by double dog daring him wo walk across a telephone wire above a busy road. (He was stupid).

At the same time, Batpaw got pulled away on a trip to Skyclan, since Beechpaw had hurt her leg and the skyclan medicine cat apprentice, Cardinalpaw, wanted to patch her up. He stayed there for around a week, and was amazed at how different it was from Shadowclan. He developed a crush on Cardinalpaw, and got really excited about the prospect of moving over. When he went back to Shadowclan to bring Shinepaw with him, though, she yelled at him for leaving without telling her, and guilted him into staying in Shadowclan.

He wasn't great at doing his apprentice duties until Solarflare, his bully's older brother, took over his training. He taught Batpaw all about what it meant to fight in service of other cats, and reinforced his dangerous loyalty to those he cared about. After he became a warrior, though, and Shinebabble's attempted murder was outed, Batblister's rush to defend her resulted in a final battle against his mentor, which resulted in their exile from Shadowclan.

They hid out in Skyclan, and for the first time in a while, Batblister was really happy. He started out planning where to live and how often he would get to see Cardinalbounce now that they were living closer. He started making friends in Skyclan and the neighboring Bloodclan. He learned a lot about medicine from Cardinalbounce, and was starting to be truly self sufficient and happy. Shinebabble didn't like that at all. She schemed about how to get Cardinalbounce out of the equation, trying to lie to batblister about things he had said, or slipping small amounts of poison into his prey.

Things worked out for her. Cardinalbounce came down with a mysterious illness, and Starclan let him know he was going to die. When Batblister found out about it, he was sent into a panic. He tried going through all the options to keep him alive, until Shinebabble suggested something that he thought was really smart... If what Starclan needed was the life of a cat, he could just provide them with other options. He enlisted two of his older friends into agreeing to help him with an "appeasement to starclan" he half-lied half-talked them into it, but when it ended, and they were both dead, it didn't stop Cardinalbounce's illness from taking him over.

He fell into a depression, and was only snapped out of it moons later when he managed to convince himself that he was meant to receive a sign from Starclan, fell into a paniced ferver trying to find out what it could mean. He understood, then, that he would never get into Starclan himself, and that Starclan was cruel, and had closed its gates on worthy living cats. Nobody by the lake was free of impurities. The only way to make it up there was to raise a child perfect from birth, and have them reopen the gates for the living.

He then kitnapped the newborn children of his old friend Beechsap, then the deputy of skyclan. Shinebabble convinced them that she was their real mother, and they indoctrinated and raised them in the end-goal of sacrificing them when they were 12 moons. He spent the next year getting cats on board with his ideology, orchestrating examples of the children's power and awe. When the children weren't being paraded around, they were locked up tight in the abandoned clocktower they had taken refuge in.

In the background, Batblister was making allies. He had high-ranking friends in Bloodclan, and was expanding the reach of his cult through them. He heard that Beechstar was going to recieve her nine lives, and met her at the moonpool. He attacked, taking a life right off the bat. He reasoned that it wasn't actually murder if she was still alive, and it wasn't fair at all that undeserving cats got rewarded by starclan, while they take the lives of others. He was scared off though, after she told him she had recieved her first life from Cardinalbounce in Starclan.

Eventually, the children began sneaking out more and learning more about the real world. Though Batblister tried to prevent it, it ended in a confrontation involving their real family, and Chalice, (one of the kids) turned against him. Batblister pleaded and pleaded for him to come back, and he pretended to be convinced. When the day of his sacrifice came, however, he turned the flames he was supposed to burn in against Shine and Bat, lighting their clocktower on fire and running away.

Batblister was able to escape, but debris fell on top of Shinebabble, trapping her. She pleaded for Batblister to stay with her, that it was their time, that they promised to stick together. He listened. Her influence over him was so strong that he agreed to be eaten alive by flames to stick by her side.
