Before his death, Diya was a bookish med student. Although he liked his mayor, his immigrant parents' pressure was the main reason he pursued it. Consumed by school, he had no time or energy to indulge in his passions. Born in a Muslim household, he always felt the need to live up to his parents' idea of success.

Spending most of his time at the library, Diya hardly had any friends outside of class. His friend group consisted of other overworked med students trying to squeeze Mario Kart sessions between finals. For his whole life, his dating life was non-existent, encouraged by his parents to avoid "distractions" (girls). By the time he hit college he had barely kissed a girl, teased by his no-better-than-him peers every time he so much as talked to someone of the opposite sex.

He died from a stress-induced epileptic seizure in school at the age of 19, overwhelmed by a particularly hard semester. Albeit painful, his death came to him as some sort of catharsis, lifting the burdens off his shoulders. With this new-found freedom he found himself being able to explore his neglected interests.

He doesn't feel particularly inclined towards a type of person. Working at clubs, he has learned to treat most types of people. Women tend to gravitate towards him at first sight, but often cut and run from him as soon as they really start talking to him. This is because he is quite flat, in speech, words and expressions. He is usually not the type you can so easily read, which can make many (especially women) uneasy. If you don't trust his words and actions it's quite hard to tell his intentions.

Diya's boyfriend, Marcy is totally opposite to him. In a way, they balance out the other. Diya is a generally quiet person, which is perfect because Marcy loves to talk his ears off. Diya prefers modern, sleek clothing. He has an interest in niche trends and futuristic fashion. Unlike Marcy, he doesn't really have a particular affinity for designer brands.

In his relationship, Diya derives pleasure from disciplining and pacifying Marcy. No matter how hard Marcy tries to piss the other off, Diya hardly budges. His patience for the brat is limitless. Even if he is usually in control, he also finds delight in the struggle.

Although he has some roots in Buddhism, he doesn't follow the religion closely, mostly focusing on spirituality. These ties have shaped him as a person. His music is his passion. He truly puts his heart and soul into it and it's a large portion of his interests. He loves to connect with all types of music, but has a preference for EDM.
