Xell, in reality, is a Demon/Wizard hybrid. This is a rare case as most of their kind don’t live past their childhood or teen years.

Their true goal is to rid of all the members of the wizard council for not doing anything about the discrimination of the hybrid races, especially towards their own. Though it is uncommon for someone to shun someone who is a hybrid, Xell still desires to get rid of those with that mindset. They want to be the sole one in charge of the council to actually change and apply laws for Gitlayang, as the council can usually never settle on an agreement. If the council actually found out about the truth of why he decided to run away during his childhood, they would undoubtly do everything in their power to get rid of him.

Xell's use of basic water magic is a decoy— their real specialty is blood magic. Being enhanced by their demon lineage, it has unique properties and powers. As they are a hybrid, they are able to control and manipulate their own blood but not others' blood without any connection.

In order to actually control other people, Xell needs to have other people ingest even just a portion of their blood. Hence, having them drink their coffee or any beverage infused with their blood. Coffee, after all, does hide the taste of it. Doing so forms a “contract”, enabling them to be manipulated by Xell. Those under a contract can be manipulated at any time, but as Xell is well liked by their followers, they rarely ever need to use this power. It only doesn't count as a contract if the person is forcefully made to ingest the blood, as there has to be a sense of willingness.

This ability has most power towards any blood-related family members as they have the same blood. If a blood-related family member does not consider them as family, then they are not able to be controlled by the user as there is no “willingness to be blood bound”. Having no other family members that consider them family, the only time this full power is used without ingesting blood is with their parents' deaths.

Xell can only really fully control up to four or five people at a time. Controlling more than that puts a strain on their mind and body and the fact that it will be easier for the controlled people to break free of the connection. Despite this, it is quite easy for them to switch who they control at the blink of an eye. It is unknown how one can tell who Xell is going to control next, though hints may include who Xell is thinking or looking at at the moment.

Outside of being controlled by ingesting their blood, Xell can temporarily control you depending on how much of your blood they can touch. A small cut can mean a few minutes of minimal control, a big gash can mean a long period of time with plenty of control. When fighting, it’s best to keep your distance with as less wounds as possible.

   BACKSTORY

Xell was born to a demon father and a water wizard mother, who both cut ties with their own families as they never accepted them together being a wizard and a demon. Despite knowing the baby won’t live long, they decided to take care of him either way. They at least wanted to give their child a comfortable life with love and care before he passes on.

Xell's parents lived together with the baby while keeping away from their neighbors. Some people found out about the baby and they shunned them, saying “Just kill the poor thing to end its misery early”. Xell's mother was especially enraged by what people would tell them, but Xell's father would tell her to ignore them. As long as they lived together as a family, everything would be fine.

Being half-wizard, Xell had to at least eventually learn the basics of water magic from his mother. When Xell was old enough to properly communicate, his mother gave him a raindrop-shaped pendant. It was filled with water mixed with a rare herb, which properties comforts the wearer when they are feeling sad or stressed. It was a family keepsake, and Xell's mother hoped this would help Xell's further practice into magic.

Xell grew up knowing people around them hated them for being an anomaly. It was hard for them to make friends or even just talk to people as the others would either look at him with disgust or pity. At some point someone had tried to kill him saying "It has to be done" but was saved by his parents who both got absolutely furious at the attacker and got rid of them. It didn't matter to Xell, however, since as long as he has his parents he would be fine.

One day, Xell's mother urged them to continue practicing their water magic. She made him stand in front of a glass of water between them and told him to concentrate as hard and use all of his willpower to move the water inside the glass. Xell closed his eyes, and used everything in his power to move the liquid. As he did so he heard an explosion of glass and flesh in front of him, and opened his eyes to a gruesome sight. 

Along with broken shards of glass, pieces of flesh from the body of Xell's mother was mixed with water on the floor. Xell stared at the scene in front of him for a minute, until he started screaming and crying. The once blue, raindrop-shaped pendant on Xell's neck started to turn into a bloody red color. Xell's father rushed to see what was happening until he saw pieces of his wife everywhere. It didn't take long for him to figure out what happened. Xell's father grabbed Xell—leaving a scratch on Xell's eye in the process—and kept banging him on the wall yelling "WHAT DID YOU DO?! WHAT DID YOU DO?!". Xell kept crying and wailing for his father to stop until he couldn't take it anymore and used the same power on his father, making him explode as well.

Xell sat on the floor sobbing, the bloody remains of his parents on the floor in front of him. He got up and tried his best to clean up the mess, not knowing what to do with the body parts. A kid could only do so much to hide the murder of his parents. He cleaned up for a bit and got a change of clothes when someone came knocking on their door, curious about all the yelling previously. Xell froze, knowing that if the others saw the scene they would know that he killed them. He panicked and decided to jump out of the bathroom window to escape. 

As he got out, a scream could be heard from inside the house. Their neighbors finally found out what happened which instilled even more fear and hatred for the hybrid. They wanted to kill Xell immediately. A search was done inside the house until they found the open bathroom window. They wanted to continue pursuit, until someone told them to leave him be as “He's an anomaly. He'll die sooner or later especially without help from anyone.”

Xell continued running until they encountered a faraway village. They fed off scraps of people’s food in different restaurants for a while until someone from an orphanage picked them up and took them in. They figured they could hide their demon lineage well since they do not have the black sclera normal demons have so they introduced themself as a wizard/monster hybrid whos parents died in an accident far from home.

They grew up among the fellow orphanage kids being known as “the most charming and pleasant one among the bunch” and “someone who they looked up to as a big brother”. Despite being well liked and having plenty of families wanting to adopt them, they ultimately decided to stay and socialize with other different kids who came in. Xell considered them all their “blood bonded siblings”, always emphasizing the word “blood” during conversation.

Xell continued to study hard until they finally worked their way into being the CEO of Kapare Coffee. They would always remember their siblings and caretakers from the orphanage and would constantly send them money as a thanks for taking care of them their whole life.
