Dioe is an enigma to many. Often appearing aloof and stoic, not many know what is on their mind. They tend to speak in a monotone voice, so it may be a bit hard to read their emotions as well. People do not seem to be intimidated much by Dioe though, as they have a fairly approachable aura and responds in a calm tone when spoken to.
While managing their family’s potion store, Dioe maintains their indifferent facade. They are not the type to continue conversations with customers, and usually tries to let casual conversations die down with one or two worded replies. Those who try to tell jokes to them are merely responded with a blank face or a cough. This attitude may come across as rude but Dioe simply wants to do their job in assisting others and providing information about what they have in store. Dioe does not necessarily hate their job as they’re needed by their parents, but they do get peeved easily by customers who are either too chatty or steal goods (which is impossible since they have eyes all over the store. Literally.)
Outside of work, Dioe retreats to their basement to work on their hobby—practicing the dark arts, creating new and different concoctions, and reading up on the occult. Though their bloodline specialized in fire magic, Dioe wanted to be a specialist in dark or black magic. They have a strange fascination with anything morbid and sinister. Growing up having to see gruesome deaths constantly slowly twisted their perception of the world. They love testing out their newly created potions on small animals, usually ones that are in pain or near death so at least their life will be worth something.
Despite their oddities, Dioe is not the type to hurt others on purpose. They care deeply for those who they consider their friends. They would rather not let others know about what they do outside of work as they do not want to appear as someone who should be feared. If anything, Dioe wants to protect their friends from their knowledge on the dark arts. They absolutely despise those who try to harm those they care about and Dioe will not hesitate to inflict curses and hexes upon them.
Born to a wizard mother and a wizard father, Dioe was feared by as a baby by other individuals because of their unnatural, abnormal eyes. Dioe's right eye was normal but the left eye was an abnormal demon eye. No one knows the reason behind the abnormality of the demon eye but it was assumed to be a genetic malfunction. Tracing down Dioe's family tree, it was found out that none of their ancestors had any trace of demon blood so only one explanation could be given— a demon curse. Out of everyone in that family tree, Dioe was the one unfortunate enough to inherit it.
For others not to fear and avoid them, Dioe decided to wear an eyepatch around the demon eye and never removing it unless they were around people they trusted, or when they were going to sleep.
Dioe works for their parents' Magic Potion shop in town, serving as the shop's cashier and caretaker. Dioe is in charge of opening and closing the shop every morning and night. Although on some days (usually on weekends), Dioe would go out to sell the potions to people travelling outside of town. Despite Dioe being just a mere merchant, they actually practice magic often as well, sometimes using the potions in their shop (with permission of course). Dioe's specialty is dark and fire magic.
Dioe also enjoys company from their friend Celeuxe, who occasionally visits to check up on them and tell stories of their days. They became friends because of the fact that they're both defects in a way.
"Celeuxe may get really hotheaded, but I don't mind. We understand each other. She also keeps me company during the shop's slow hours."
Celeuxe is Dioe’s best friend. She comes by the shop almost every day to check up on Dioe and their business. Celeuxe often rants a lot about the other demons or monsters she's fought that day to which Dioe willingly listens to as they do work. Despite the difference in their personalities, Dioe knows that they both share the same struggle when it comes to being “defects” in a way.
"That woman sleeps way too much. She won't answer my messages sometimes."
Lisza is a regular customer at Dioe’s shop, so they slowly became friends because of her constant visits. They know that Lisza is the one in charge of the rain in their town, so Dioe is always happy to help her out with whatever she needs. Sometimes Lisza awkwardly starts up conversations, to which Dioe doesn't mind. When they don’t chat in person, they communicate often through text.
"...I would say a friend of Celeuxe and Lisza's is a friend as well but there's something about her that makes me want to keep my distance. She also makes fun of my height. Very unpleasant."
Dioe has heard about Jaime because of the countless stories Celeuxe and Lisza has told about her. The first time they met, they did not expect the fact that they had to look up to make eye contact with her. Dioe isn't particularly close to Jaime compared to Celeuxe and Lisza, but they can sometimes be peeved when Jaime ruffles their hair and calls them short.
"This angel is persistent. No matter how many times I ward it away it keeps coming back. I can't stop wasting time. This constant torment has gone for far too long."
Appearing as visual and auditory hallucinations, Roquiel has constantly been a source of agony for Dioe. Not only in a physical sense, but also the fact that Roquiel knows what to say to drive Dioe to the edge. All of this often leads Dioe to have a breakdown. For the longest time Dioe has been searching for a way to get rid of Roquiel once and for all, much to no avail.
"Hmm... maybe his new coffee shop opening near mine wasn't a bad move. I have customers who look at our items after they get their coffee. Even their stuff isn't so bad. Though... I really don't know what to do with the 100 Kapare Coffee coupons they put on the counter one day. He said it was a gift from one business to another but... a hundred? Really? Even I'm not this generous."
Xell put up one of their coffee shop branches beside Dioe's potion shop, so they immediately introduced themself to their new neighbor.
The two are quite familiar with each other despite Xell not visiting often as they both have businesses to manage. Dioe frequents Xell's coffee shop for their morning coffee and specials.
