PATH ALREADY SET IN STONE

A man who previously married the show host of a beauty show out of love found his hard work in developing a bracelet system stolen. After finding out that all the credit for one of the most important systems in Altale was taken away from him, the engineer swore vengeance on those thieves. However, as the man got older, he figured it was best to have someone carry his vengeance, which was supposed to be his son’s purpose.

Mettaton was born in a very rich mansion, where he would spend a great majority of his childhood and teen years. There, he was harshly taught everything he needed to know to continue his father’s vengeance. But, there was one person in particular who allowed him to look more into what he genuinely wanted to do in life: his mom.

Unfortunately, with his mom becoming bedridden due to multiple sclerosis shortly after giving birth to a daughter named Decibel, it was becoming harder for Mettaton to do the things he enjoyed. However, he was always allowed to play the piano for his mother, which allowed him to find out he really enjoyed playing it.

HARSHER STUDIES FOR MORE SUCCESS?

For a while, Mettaton was allowed to attend public school before his father noticed he wasn’t performing as well as he wanted him to. Thus, the young Mettaton was forced to be homeschooled for the rest of his education, causing him to have barely any contact aside from the mansion’s staff and his parents. While he finally became good enough for his father, Mettaton still had the firm belief that he would be doomed to living a boring life since he really could not find a better way to escape his situation.

At the young age of 17, Mettaton was hired by his own father to work on many technologies that would later become an integral part of Altale, mainly a system that automatically found help for those who are in a bad situation & a chip that deactivated Androids that go haywire. Surprisingly enough, he enjoyed working on these projects, but wished he was allowed to do what he wanted.

WELL, NOW THAT'S UNEXPECTED...

On Mettaton’s 18th anniversary, his father announced to his son that he would be moving to a facility with his mother and that he would be left with the mansion with every other staff member that was working there. And, it didn’t take long before Mettaton was finally left alone in his own home for the first time in years.

He looked around and he saw this as the perfect opportunity to do all the things he had ever wanted to do, but…he didn’t know how life really worked, as he spent so much time studying that Mettaton never had to learn about all the necessities because everyone else was covering the rest for him.

As Mettaton was never taught how to enjoy life, he was very lost as to what he could do, but remembered his talent in piano, as well as his mom’s past as a show host and how he really enjoyed listening to her stories. Now, Mettaton was set for life with all the wealth he had which means he didn’t need to work, but he wanted to do at least something for a living. He wanted to try hosting his own show, because it was way different than all the things he had to learn about. And so, with the network his family had gathered, Mettaton tried contacting those who could help him reach his goal…

THE START OF A NEW SHOW IN MAGNOLIA

After all the hard work, Mettaton had managed to host a talent show. One that allowed him to learn about all the talents people could ever have. And, one that allowed him to show off a talent he couldn’t express for years.

And so, his first show was made a success thanks to his mother’s technical support company and Mettaton managed to gather a fanbase, some of it being very rabid. This caused him to be more satisfied with his life than he used to and allowed him to open up and find a potential partner who he would love. Due to the variety of his fanbase, Mettaton tried dating a few girls and even considered dating a few guys. This led to him finding out about pansexuality.

At the same time, Mettaton had been trying to get himself out there by participating in a few music competitions, which lead to him meeting Psyli, who later becomes a friend then a rival before eventually becoming a friendly rival. The two of them temporarily merged their shows together before eventually breaking the collaboration off due to their clashing ideals. Mettaton would poke fun at some people’s talents while Psyli preferred to proclaim himself as superior without bringing other people down.

AN ANDROID IN A SEA OF PEOPLE

During one of his many shows, Mettaton noticed someone that was a little unusual from the crowd: a shy Android that was trying to find her way into the front. Interested in seeing what she was up to, the show host called her on the scene which prompted her to spill about her skills with the violin. Mettaton allowed her to play with one of his rental violins and accompanied her with his piano, which caused him to open up with the idea of making her his music partner.

Unfortunately, as he tried suggesting the idea, the android quickly hid in the crowd and Mettaton was unable to find her until the next day when she was found in the park alone with no housing. Seeing this, he took an opportunity to help her get around and even offered her to stay at his mansion, which she reluctantly accepted after stating her name as Caulifla.

And, with Mettaton often being busy to the point of struggling to check on everyone he cared for, he found himself being unable to find Caulifla and panicked trying to find her all over Magnolia.

LOSING SIGHT OF WHAT'S IMPORTANT

The show host only managed to find a partly dismantled Caulifla in a facility where a lot of illegal experimentation was going on. Some of the things Mettaton had found were many dismantled androids, as well as many of the chips he had previously built, a container that held a glowing gem and even a vial with the name of a virus that Mettaton wasn’t really able to read.

And, in an attempt to find all of Caulifla’s missing pieces, Mettaton came across his father, as deranged as ever, as he was close to finishing building a device that would destroy the many buildings that contributed to Magnolia’s bracelet system. This prompted the two to have a fencing battle before it ended in a tie. And, with a lot of struggle, Mettaton managed to escape the facility with all of Caulifla’s parts and spent weeks rebuilding her in his mansion. Fortunately for him, Caulifla had a backup of her memory and remembered him.

With all of these struggles, Mettaton fully realized just how much he cared about Caulifla to the point of wanting her to always be on his side and wanting her happiness after she spent so much time trying to escape from people who wanted her core for their own purposes.

THINGS ARE GETTING EVEN WILDER FOR BUSY METTATON

Since then, a lot of things have happened to Mettaton to the point where he sometimes complained about needing a break. But, he will never be not satisfied to see Psyli feel better after he helped him deal with his depression a bit better since Mettaton did relate, but to a lesser extent.

Shortly after, Mettaton gave a tour to a lady who got lost and got kidnapped by a group of men. This prompted the lady to give him a job as a guard which he quickly accepted…only for him to learn that this would require him to sometimes go to an entirely different realm and that he would be guarding for one of the strongest gods in said realm.

And not only that, he also had to go on a quest to defeat a sealed goddess in order to prevent her from causing chaos in Gaiatine again with the help of a vampire and a demon and one of them turning out to be the historical figure Sirius Greyford. With Mettaton almost dying a few times because of the goddess’ shenanigans and because of Sirius’s uncontrolled abilities, he really considered taking a break from everything after that adventure.

…And he did manage to get the little break he wanted! However, it seems that the virus he saw at his father’s facility is causing a lot of trouble in a certain other world and that he will have to find a way to deal with it…
