Takashi Inoue was not born with the healing touch so many claim he has - it was something he worked for, day and night, tooth and nail, with his blood, sweat, and tears. That's what he tells those that ask, anyways. His first veterinary clinic was not a clinic at all, but rather an old hay shed on his parents' property in Ashoro. His success was minuscule at first, but despite its slow start, he's now known through all of Japan as the best vet around, and his success has even branched off into Russia, South Korea, and China. Although Takashi has never been fond of leaving his hometown, he does maintain oversight of all branches under his name, determined not to lose the reputation he worked so hard to get.

Takashi's strict upbringing led to many of his particular quirks and the peculiarities of his behaviour. From an outsider's perspective, he is quiet and reserved, much like any other introvert, but this could not be further from the truth. His parents taught him from a young age to speak his mind only when necessary and that he was better off focusing on his work than on establishing emotional connections with other people, and this has greatly stunted his emotional growth. He is abrasive and honest about what he thinks about other people, at least when he first gets to know them, and is determined to make sure that other people know what they are getting into when they attempt to form a bond with him.
His unwillingness to run from conflict tends to lead him into very precarious situations, and his determination to ensure the safety of the few that breach his social circle only tends to make matters worse. Although prior to his life at the University for Particularly Talented Individuals he would not have given a second thought about anyone's wellbeing other than his own, he has developed a need to see those he cares about not only succeed as he had, but also gain a ground to stand on of their own. However, he is unafraid to call others out on their BS, regardless of status in his personal life; above all else, truthfulness is what Takashi values most in a person.
- Takashi is bisexual and biromantic, without much lean towards either gender.
- Takashi was taught how to speak English by his family in the USA, so although he can speak it fluently there are strange colloquialisms in his speech.
- Takashi was pressured into pursuing a veterinary career by his parents; he sometimes wonders whether he really is the Ultimate Veterinarian at all.
- Although he does not have any siblings, Takashi's plentitude of cousins more than make up for it.
- Takashi is of a somewhat celebrity status in his hometown of Ashoro, and has attended to at least one member of every cattle herd in the town.

Despite getting off on the wrong foot, Takashi and Kōki managed to develop a relationship that would make any other sweethearts jealous. Not for over-indulgences or sappiness, of course, neither of them could ever handle such a life, but rather for the way they seem to communicate more by thought than speech and the care they put into making sure the other is comfortable.
Shinobu Miyamoto
Friends...?
Shinobu was the first person Takashi met after The Awakening, but just as quickly as he warmed to him he got deeply tired and annoyed of him. Now, Takashi views Shinobu more as an persistent itch that refuses to go away than a friend, although the other appears to be completely oblivious of Takashi's distaste.

Although Chunhua's constant cheery disposition regularly places her at odds with Takashi's more pessimistic outlook, the wise-beyond-her-years tone behind everything she says means the two get along "like a shed on fire", in Takashi's own words.
