Wormy is an enigmatic, yet benign creature, despite their connection to the Twisting Deceit. Its agenda and motives are impossible to fathom; even JoJo often struggles to understand why it does certain things. The origin of her fondness for them is also a mystery, but none can deny Wormy's attachment to her favorite human. He is often seen curled around JoJo, or floating alongside them; according to the Vast avatar, Wormy even saved them from the grip of another entity long ago. It seems to utterly lack the hostility and manipulative tendencies of most Spiral aspects. When confronted with other humans or avatars, they are merely apathetic and mostly unresponsive. Attempting to hurt them does nothing, and Wormy will not fight back if someone is aggressive towards them. Perhaps it is aware of its own invulnerability.
Wormy's true origins are unknown. According to Jonathan Fairchild, it first appeared to them when they were trapped by another entity, saving them from endlessly wandering another world. Where it came from, or why they wished to help, JoJo doesn't know. Since then, however, the worm on a string has been their constant companion. Wormy is never seen far from JoJo's side. It seems to do little other than stay with its human, or float along in the air. Two theories for its origins are that it is a broken off piece of the Spiral that took on a worm form, or it is a once-lifeless worm on a string somehow given life by the throat of deception. Despite there being multiple sightings and testimonies of other Spiral aspects, Wormy seems to have no interest at all in approaching any of them. Whether or not it has a true, secret motive or not is anyone's guess. But through thick and thin, they will stay with the avatar they have chosen as their own.

JoJo is their chosen human, and best friend. The two are inseparable.
