About
JoJo is my fansona for The Magnus Archives and VERY important to me, probably my most important character. Please respect that! They're the cornerstone of my personal TMA canon, so he's super self-indulgent lol. Kill the part of you that cringes
They are also definitely a vent sona, so please be aware of this. Trigger warnings for their story are typical for TMA, especially the Vast, but also include some personal ones: acrophobia, megalophobia, thalassophobia, death of loved ones, obsession, transphobia, BPD triggers, emotional manipulation, alcohol use, disassociation, loss of identity.
JoJo is an Avatar of the Vast, and belongs to the Fairchild family. They are extremely dedicated to their entity, and will give anything for Its sake; their life revolves around connecting further to It. However, they are still deeply connected to aspects of their previous human identity, particularly friendships and romantic relationships.

Personality
JoJo lives and breathes the Vast; they do not know how to exist independent of It. Their identity, already delicate before their transformation, is now paper thin, and very malleable. They are utterly devoted to It, dangerously so, and will never turn on It. No matter how much they love other people, they cannot truly prioritize their human relationships. Despite this, JoJo is still codependent on their loved ones, and being separated from or-god forbid-abandoned by them would break his fragile heart into pieces. Easily attached to an unhealthy and dangerous degree, JoJo can only exist within the validation and affection of other people. There is no love, nor compassion, to be found inside themself. They give all of it to the few whom they truly love. The only thing reserved for both themself and the majority of humanity is cold apathy; taking lives and inflicting suffering means nothing to them.
JoJo will do anything to avoid confronting their own trauma, and often forces themself to act with false joy. Many people think of them as little more than a cheery, somewhat foolish person, but this is far from the truth. They are deeply broken inside. This is something they know, but cannot accept; JoJo seems perfectly content to obfuscate their past forever. Though they can only cope with the stress of repression in the short term, they still refuse to confront themself. Even the immense depths of guilt and regrets cannot turn them from their path. JoJo has instead retreated into the embrace of the Vast, and there they will stay for all eternity.

Appearance
JoJo is a somewhat short transmasculine demiboy, with pale skin and dark circles under their eyes. They have black hair and green eyes; occasionally, they dye their hair light pink. Usually seen either binding or with visible breasts; must NEVER be drawn with top surgery scars or a flat chest without a binder. This is for my own personal comfort. They are full of energy and always seem to be on the move; their hands and feet are rarely still, and they often bounce slightly in place. Acute observers will notice that they always seem to be under the effect of a light breeze, even when that shouldn't be possible.
JoJo loves to dress conventionally fem, often sporting skirts and the color pink. Another fondness of theirs is oversized sweaters (jumpers lol), hoodies, pretty much anything with big sleeves they can move around. They are very attached to accessories as well, particularly if they are cloud-themed; they almost always sport a pair of cloud earrings.

Backstory
JoJo's true age is unknown; however, it's no secret they're an American by birth. They lived in the States for most of their early life (before they became Jonathan Fairchild), and did not lead a happy nor fulfilling existence there. While on the surface, JoJo moved to the UK for both their education and to legally marry their boyfriend Miles Landon, in truth they also wanted to escape their awful home life. Once there, however, they would never once return to the States; unbeknownst to JoJo, their partner was falling deeper into the world of the Buried, and their relationship began to fracture deeply. Between their failing education, the stress of work and culture shock, then finally endless arguments, JoJo began to regret every decision leading to this point. It culminated in the arrival of the Coffin, which Miles freely departed into of his own volition. The last thing he said to JoJo was that he would return only "when all the world is mud and soil; when the sky has sunken into the earth".
This experience was deeply traumatizing, and may have been the final push that threw JoJo into the arms of the Vast. They wholeheartedly embraced the Falling Titan, not caring that it meant they would need to kill others to sustain themself. Nothing truly mattered anymore, after all, not since Miles abandoned them. Eventually, their power was recognized by one Simon Fairchild. He favored them enough for them to become a part of the 'family', taking on the name Jonathan as a sign of rebirth. Their past and deadname mostly erased, JoJo dedicated themself utterly to the cause of the Vast. This has been their life for a while now, though the exact length is their secret, as their appearance is still very youthful. They are often seen in the main Fairchild home, and rarely visit anything company-related.
As of the beginning of TMA, they are in a polyamorous relationship. They are dating both Tim Stoker and Michael Crew-the former is aware of them having another partner, but JoJo being as overprotective as they are, they don't share many details about Mike. Due to Tim working there, they often visit the Magnus Institute, despite disliking the gloomy place. Many of the employees know them, and JoJo is seen as a cheery and blessedly unobtrusive presence. One of their motives for visiting-other than to see their boyfriend-is to learn more about the entities' rituals. Their ultimate goal is to find a way to strengthen the Vast, and truly achieve the Awful Deep despite Simon's previous failure.
Present Day
Whether or not the Awful Deep succeeds remains to be seen.
