Quinn was born in a peaceful island in West Blue. Her family was just her father but he was always absent due to work, so an old lady from the village, Ms. Ryo, used to take care of her. Quinn was a smart and curious little girl, she loved to read books about other islands and famous explorers' adventures - that's how she fell in love with exploring - and knowing about that, Ms. Ryo gave Quinn a journal where she could write about her discoveries. She began to take strolls through the island, writing down her discoveries: birds she saw, plants she found, along with ores and other trinkets. She then decided that one day she'd leave the island to become a real explorer and sail through the seas visiting every island she found to discover new things, and began studying how to sail. When she was 16 years old, Quinn left in a small boat and sailed across the sea for several months, stopping on each island she found to document her discoveries in her journal. One year later, she found out through the newspaper that her village was attacked by bandits and that there were no survivors. She lost Ms. Ryo and her home, her father disappeared so she presumed he was gone as well, which left her alone and with no place to go back to.

As time passed, Quinn learned how to live on her own, avoiding pirates and monsters as best as she could. She needed money to buy food and shelter so she began selling the trinkets and other items she found in her travels, sometimes participating in dance shows as well. She bought newspapers often to know how things were going around the world and to be aware of new pirate bounties, as well as others' discoveries.

When she was 23 years old, Quinn docked in an island called Naros. The first thing she did was go exploring the island; although, a pirate crew arrived to get resources - the Kid Pirates. Quinn and most people there were aware of who they were due to the news and bounty posters so she did her best to avoid contact with them. While looking for a library in the city, Quinn, as well as other citizens, where attacked by a group of bandits and saved by none other than Eustass Kid and his first mate Killer - although, they stated that it was only because the bandits were in their way. Curious but also cautious, Quinn decided to go after them to see if she could discover anything, because after all - they're pirates, they live sailing across the world. But it would be no easy task; Kid is known for his violent nature, it would be dangerous for her. She eventually managed to convince him to let her aboard the ship to document their discoveries by unintentionally annoying the hell out of him until he agreed, but only until they got to the next island, where they'd leave her. Quinn was quiet and very introverted at first; she was afraid of what pirates were capable of, especially these ones. As the days went by, she began to loosen up a little and found out that Killer was way more sociable and calmer than Kid (still awfully unsociable anyway, though) and began to ask him her questions instead. Weeks went by and Quinn grew used to the crew, and them with her. When the time came, they docked in an island and she left the ship, going back to being on her own.

After the 2-year timeskip, Quinn continued exploring every island she came across - until she bumped into the  Crossbone Pirates. Being curious once more, she did the same thing she did with the Kid Pirates, but this time she actually became friends with the captain - Ghost Echo. She sailed with them for a few weeks and found out they were "acquaintances" with the Kid Pirates - who they eventually bumped into, more than once. Quinn ended up growing very fond of both crews and decided she would follow her dream alongside them.
