Arden grew and flourished under his parent's attentive care, they were infatuated with their son and made it known to everyone. However they did not only nurture the greatness in him, but it also stimulated doubt in himself and what was expected of him since his coming of age ceremony. As a foal he believed he could take on Ignacio himself. That there was nothing in this world that could hold him back. The ceremony was ground breaking for him, not being able to meet with any of the gods or even hear a whisper of their guidance he has since felt lost. He could not bare to tell his parents the truth, how he wandered for days and met no one. That they had to bring him back after he failed.

If the gods would not help guide him, he would choose his own destiny. He would show them he is worthy of their vision. It was extremely difficult for Arden when he began his apprenticeship under the warriors. Training helped him become more sturdy. It levelled his emotional output but did not diminish it. Arden can still tear up over a beautiful sunset or the taste of his favorite home cooked meal. With much coaching he was taught how to channel his anger and rage into physical energy. To run faster, to jump higher, to be able to fight. He loved fighting, the roar in his ears and the thunder in his chest made him feel like he was soaring. Sometimes the rush was a bit too addictive and he would pick fights he knew he couldn't win. His coat now decorated in small scars discoloring his beautiful skin much to his parent's dismay.

It took a lot of persuading for Arden to get his parents to agree to allow him to begin his duties as a fleet foot. No longer the entitled foal he was before the ceremony he understood why they apprehensive for him. He told him he would always return to them, no matter what. That he was strong because of them. This is a promise he takes very seriously and makes sure to always visit his parents first whenever he's in their area. They have now adjusted to their wilful son but still fret over him every time he comes home as if he never grew any taller than a colt. Arden adores the attention and is sure to dote on them as well and help them with work when he has time between duties.

Between his parents teachings and his warrior training, he believes in Serora and wants to do everything he is capable of in helping. Hoping that if he does enough, maybe Alya will finally show herself to him. Everything he does now is in hopes that it will bring him closer to their guardian god.

History:

Arden was born during the bounty of spring. His eyes bright and hopeful as the budding leaves. His parents were elated, years of trying and many failed attempts. They had lost all hope they would have a child of their own. They had finally put the thought of expanding their family to rest when the first signs of Arden had barely started to grow inside his mother's belly. They were meticulous with his mother's care, no longer was she allowed to work or even travel once they realized she was with foal. After many scares, Arden had finally arrived. A healthy bouncing baby boy, he was everything they had ever hoped for. They wished for him to grow tall and strong like the trees that sheltered them through the delicate pregnancy and so he was named after them.

Arden was nurtured and given complete devotion by his parents. They believed he should have the very sun itself if he wished it. As much as his parents loved him, Arden might have loved them even more. He followed his parents every hoof step and devoured all of the knowledge they would show him. The wonders of the broad and beautiful lands of Sedo, the tender care of growth of crops, and the ever glorious wonder of Alya and the other gods. Arden was fascinated with everything. Especially anything to do with Alya, as a foal he once told his mother Alya would be his bride one day. His mother delighted in his devotion and imagination, encouraging it without thought.

When it became time for the ceremony of the rising wind, Arden desperately pleaded with his parents to allow him to go. Only the tender age of 14, they were reluctant. Trying to warn him of the perils that lie ahead of him, that he should wait another year or two after he had more defensive training. Arden however would not take no for an answer. Not often did he ever hear his parents withhold anything from him and he wasn't about to be denied now. After many tears and stamping hooves, his exasperated parents gave in to his wishes.

Arden was eager and prepared for the ceremony. Only the excitement of finally meeting Alya made his blood hum urging his legs forward into the hot desolate landscape. Arden walked for miles, the hours dragging on. He waited and he wandered. But he could hear nothing. He could see nothing. Only sand and small creatures skitter away from his heavy foot falls. He was gone nearly three days, much longer than what was considered usual. His parents distressed and begging the warriors to go and search for him. With talented scouts it didn't take long to find the young colt. He had blacked out  beside a small crater with water pooled at the bottom. He was brought back unconscious to his fretting parents and they brought him home for rest and recovery. When he awoken he was startled to find he was back home in his own bed. His parents did not understand his distress as he immediately broke down to tears. He stayed in bed for next two days refusing to get up.

Finally on the third day he rose from his bed and finally confronted his parents. They were quiet for a long time after he explained Alya wanted him to become stronger. Needed him to become stronger. That he would immediately begin training to become a warrior and not follow in their hooves to becoming a farmer. His parents were dismayed, their only little sapling putting himself in danger? They wouldn't allow that. But who were they to disobey Alya's orders? After much coaxing from Arden and his father, his mother relented and gave Arden her blessing to begin his training.

What Arden hadn't told them is that he met no one during his journey through the bad lands. He never heard the voice of Alya or any of the other gods. His chest weighed heavy on his young heart to have failed such an important tradition. He could never let his parents know what really happened out there. So instead he decided to put himself to work, if he could not earn Alya's favor now he would show her he was worth her patronage. He would grow strong and become her champion.

Arden had a hard time through training. He did not do well under orders and disregarded his elders often. Seems the only thing the ceremony granted him was a bad attitude. For that he was put to work twice as hard, never did he give in or quit. The divine image of Alya pushed him forward, he must show her he is worthy.

Present day he is now working as a fully fledged fleet foot. Arden much prefers the thrill of a battle over delivering mail, but as temporary warrior he doesn't see nearly as much action as he would like. With all of his training he has seen and heard a lot of talk of the iron hooves. He has made it his personal goal to work extra hard and earn the rank of an iron hoof himself in hopes that it might bring him closer to Alya. He does not yet understand it is because of this self centered thinking that he is being held back to tedious work as messenger and scout duties.

•••••[ MISC NOTES ]

► Often wanders off on his own when he needs to think or reflect. When he's like this he's oblivious to the outside world and is easily sneaked up on.

► Though he has not been granted a vision by the gods, he still frequently speaks to them as if they were his close friends. Especially on long errand journeys. He has always had some trouble connecting deeply with other horses so he just never dropped the habit of speaking to the gods casually.

► Arden is extremely jealous of pegasi and their wings. He believes he could do so much more with them and they don't use them to their full capabilities. As if some how having the ability of flight makes them more worthy of Alya's blessings.

► He gets antsy if he's in one place too long, even when at home with his family. As much as he grumbles about messenger jobs, he loves to run to across the land and camp out on his own. His parents tell him that's just the nomadic blood in him.

► Openly boasts and bluffs about becoming Alya's champion, it's just a lie he never lived down or had the heart to admit the truth. Now he just thinks he actually needs to live up to it so it won't be a lie any more.
