Profile

Personality:

Missile is, generally, friendly and overly trusting of others. He'll do something if it makes someone happy, and doesn't always think of the circumstances of his actions given that he's often working with little context to begin with. That said, Missile is extremely perceptive of another's emotions, and relies heavily on expressions to pick up context clues - including the truthfulness of a person's words - in order to puzzle out the best course of action in a given situation.

Though certainly not impossible, betraying his trust is ill-advised - Missile is still capable of holding grudges, even if he can't always discern why he took the grudge on to begin with.

Background:

Once, Missile was a vengeful man who was deadset on killing Peony, an assassin who killed his family (and injured him severely) at a young age. He joined the organization she was a part of, worked his way up in management, and was ready to end her life...

...well, that is, until he lost his memories of his past life.

Without a clue why he was working at the organization, and worse, having to write down his day to day activities to even have a chance of remembering any of the new memories he was trying to form, Missile is at first unsure how to handle the situation. He's luckily fortunate that his boss, picking up on this, eases some of the workload off of him and even provides a roof under his head, but even with all that kindness, Missile isn't sure how to approach his life. What is he supposed to do? And why do some of the people here look hurt, when they interact with him?

Perhaps fortunate for him, his memories of that time don't last, either. As he settles into his new life, Missile comes to find that he's (still) rather versed in coding, hacking, and fishing out information - his boss, noticing this as well, lets him continue work for the organization, which he's able to perform surprisingly well. He even finds time to meme around and play video games with one of the kids that his Boss is watching over...this carefree, simple life brings peace to Missile's day to day worries about what had happened prior.

And then of course, that peace is broken. He finds himself in a strange game, something that feels familiar - the first he's felt in a long time.

And to add to that? For some reason, for some very strange, curious reason, he slowly picks up that there's someone here that only he seems to pay mind to. He's able to remember their conversations just as much as he does with anyone else (thanks to writing them in his notebook), but because that little amount is leagues better than everyone else, Missile learns that he's the only person capable of recognizing this stranger at a glance.

Once Missile is able to assess that this stranger - which he decides to call Yellow - isn't a threat, he makes it his goal to understand why Yellow hasn't been recognized by anyone, let alone remembered. Thanks to Susannah (and a very crucial prank involving Cassidy's bed outside), he starts to cotton on that Yellow can only be 'remembered' when they are assuming the identity of one of other 12 players in the game, but has the capability to still speak with, and even have others act accordingly based on their suggestions. It's something that Missile recognizes could make them quite the dangerous threat in anyone else's eyes, and so, for their sake, he decides to keep the truth of Yellow a secret between himself and Susannah for as long as he's able to.

By the end of the game, Missile has recognized the truth behind the game. With his help, he's able to give Yellow a proper name to go by - Solstice - who in turn fashions him a ribbon to help him remember their name. Missile works hard to help others remember Solstice by drawing pictures of them and making various notes about them. This eventually is what helps Susannah identity Solstice, and post game, makes her one of the few who can reasonably so without Missile's help.

After the events of OFFLINE, Missile has returned to his usual work, spending most of it at home. That said, as weeks pass, the people around him start to wonder if the game actually had a positive impact on him. Though they don't ever wish him to go back to a dangerous game like that, his Boss eventually decides to let him venture outside of home every once in a while, so long as he has someone with him to keep him safe.

Other info:

  • Prior to his memory loss, him and Holly were dating. While Missile doesn't remember this, he's picked up that something is off about Holly when he interacts with them, and has made notes not too stay around too long out of fear of hurting him.
  • Missile uses nicknames to help with recalling others - partly because it's fun, but it's also easier at a glance. A select few, like Michi, are those he can somewhat point out by name, though it takes a little bit of reviewing his notebook to get there.
  • Missile is the person who gave Solstice their name. After learning that the first day of the game took part on 6/21, he offered the name both as he found it meaningful (they both met on that day) and liked the sound of it. Solstice agrees and decides to accept the name - cherishing it both as a sign of their friendship and the hope that the number of connections within the game may have others remember as well.
  • Missile wears a ribbon that Solstice fashioned on Day 3 in order to help him remember their name, and wears it in post game to continue doing so. The combination of red, yellow, and blue on the ribbon also helps him recall the trio that himself, Solstice, and Susannah formed through OFFLINE, so he'll sometimes revert to calling Solstice Yellow when Susannah's around (and will call them Red).
