Peregrin Andersen

Peregrin was born to Gwendolyn 'Gwen' Howell and her husband Wilhelm 'Will' Andersen but had been transferred into the care of his Aunt Beatrice (Bea) at the age of three. His parents had supposedly passed away during a crash while he had been in his aunt's care, as she often would sit with him while his parents were out. He doesn't remember the tragedy or his parents, only his aunt and her mysterious girlfriend, Lyra.

Taking full custody of Peregrin, Beatrice moved him into her home and she began treating him as her own child. As Peregrin grew older, Lyra had disappeared from his and his aunt's life, brushed off as a simple disagreement. Being a child, Peregrin hadn't questioned it, but his suspicions on Lyra's whereabouts and the terms of their breakup built as his aunt would hide things from him.

Beatrice became terminally ill when he was twelve and he had become her carer by the age of sixteen. He had put most of his energy making sure she was comfortable, as she had made him, and his schooling had suffered due to this. She had insisted that he put himself first, but he didn't want to. She was all he had, and he was all she had.

His aunt died when he was twenty and, even at twenty-one, he's still grieving her loss. He had to sell the house and move because he couldn't bear to live there without her.

Unbeknownst to him, his pale white complexion and pink hair are the reason for most of his misfortune; namely Lyra's 'disappearance' and his aunt's illness. It's only when he's introduced to the witching world that he's able to put the puzzle together.
