Aki Kageyama (影山明 Kageyama Aki), also known as the Magma Hero: Salamander (マグマヒーローサラマンダーMaguma Hīrō Saramandā), is a student in class Class 1-B at U.A. High School and training to become a Pro Hero.

Aki is a young man of average height and a fairly muscular build. He has dark skin, slightly disheveled black hair with a gray strand on the right side, and amber eyes. Both of his hands are usually tied with special bandages that suppress the effects of his quirk. However, he can remove them if he applies a special gel and does this usually in cold weather.

During school hours, he wears the regular male U.A. uniform, the only notable difference between his and the other students' being that his is sleeveless to make his hand feel "free", and he wears a waistcoat rather than a blazer. He also doesn't wear the usual brown dress shoes, instead replacing them with a pair of red sneakers with white soles.

His hero costume consists of a black bodysuit that completely hugs his body, a dark red tuxedo with gray stripes at the bottom and middle. On his feet are gray boots with yellow soles. In addition, Aki wears a gray mask on his face, which still has 2 pairs of horns in magma-style form. He wear it most likely to give his image a little "wild" look. His suit is completely fireproof and can withstand the temperature of the lava he uses.

His casual suit consists of a black sleeveless sweatshirt with a red line on the left side, gray loose-fitting trousers and red trainers with a white sole. In addition, he also wears brown fingerless gloves.

Aki is a rather friendly, but a bit shy guy who prefers to stay in the circle of people he knows. He often feels uncomfortable meeting strangers, but after they are more or less able to talk, Aki shows his good sides as kindness and empathy.

In early childhood, Aki was a very reserved boy and even a crybaby, especially after his quirk awakened. He was so afraid of harming other children that he closed himself in and could not talk to anyone. But when he met a girl Shizuka Kireina in kindergarten, who did not show any disgust or fear towards him, he gradually began to open up in himself and became a little confident in himself and his strengths. He was also very sad when, after the incident, Shizuka had to transfer to another kindergarten, after which they parted for quite a long time.

Aki loves his family very much and is ready to do anything for their protection. By the way, it was thanks to the advice of his grandfather that he decided go to U.A. High School at the hero faculty.

One of the flaws in Aki's character can be called his modesty and not love is in the social circle. He is sociable and open only with close friends, but with strangers he has problems communicating. It comes to the point that the poor guy is afraid to go up to the employee in the store and ask where is this or that product that he is looking for. However, he is working hard on himself, since in the future he will need to communicate with other heroes, and a sign of awkwardness and uncommunicability will only harm him.

Aki shares his love for cooking with his grandparents, who own their own small restaurant. According to Aki himself, cooking brings him incredible pleasure and helps to distract from worrying thoughts, if they appear.

Aki is not a fan of conflicts and, whenever possible, tries to avoid them, not only personal ones, but also if his friends get involved in some kind of trouble. He prefers to settle all disputes not by force, but by peaceful negotiations, although not always successfully, because his advice is not always obeyed.

Aki can be called a pacifist. Even with villains, he tries to fight, keeping his distance and, if possible, not severely injuring them, but only immobilizing them or, if possible, depriving them of consciousness. He is not capable of murders or other similar things, because, according to his classmate, he is very kind-hearted and cannot even swat a fly.

However, Aki can not be called only a flutershy person. He has a lot of good qualities in his personality. Aki easily succumbs to emotions, whether positive or negative. He gets excited at the sight of cute animals or delicious food, also if he engaged in something interesting, like cooking, playing the drums or skateboarding,

Aki has tender romantic feelings for his childhood friend Shizuka, but is afraid to confess to her, as he believes that this could destroy their friendship, so he hides his feelings locked up.

Overall Abilities: Since the time of the Sport festival, Aki has shown himself to be a very strong opponent, with whom long-range and close-range battles are very dangerous. The main fighting style for him is ranged attacks, where he is fully able to use his quirk, while keeping aloof. However, he is also capable of melee combat, but not so successfully, since it takes some time to create lava, about a couple of seconds, but this may even be enough to seriously injure Aki. However, this does not prevent him from being one of the strongest in class 1-B, leveling with Jurota Shishida and Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu.

When it comes to normal melee combat without using quirk, Aki shows pretty good mobility and strength, as well as alertness. With his instinct, he is able to predict exactly where the enemy is going to hit, and at this moment he either dodges or hits an open and more vulnerable zone.

His incredible strength and quirk was appreciated by the hero Fat Gum himself, who invited him and Eijiro Kirishima to his internship.

• Enhanced Strength: Aki has great physical strength, probably even above average. He is able to lift 3 people at once with one hand, who exceed him in the weight category.

Boxing: Aki is highly skilled in boxing, which he started practicing since elementary school. Thanks to this, his hand-to-hand combat skills are the best in his class.

Musical Talent: Aki is pretty skilled at playing the drums, having gone through classes in the past.

Quirk

Magmatism (火成活動 Kaseikatsudō): Aki has the ability to create and cover his body with lava, as well as change its density. It can be used both in defense and in attack, both in melee and in ranged combat. The only limitation is the complete absence of land. Aki is able to create lava from almost any kind of rock, even asphalt. In addition, he is able to turn part of the ground into lava, isolating himself from opponents, thereby avoiding close-range battles, as he prefers to fight at longer distances.

Aki can turn lava back to stone by cooling it down. By its very nature, lava can spread and cause more damage if left unattended, so he carefully monitors exactly how he uses the quirk.

The first attempts to control Aki's quirk turned out to be rather difficult, since the lava for a fairly long period of time did not give in to control. However, through careful and serious training, Aki was able to master control. But in "Beast Mode" it is not always possible to completely control the lava, which is why he tries not to use this attack and not harm anyone.

Aki's quirk comes from his hands and is almost always active, so he has to wrap his hands in special bandages that suppress the effect of his quirk. He can also apply a special gel that lasts for several hours, so he can do without bandages.

Thanks to his quirk, Aki is able to stay in places with low temperatures for quite a long time, since his body temperature is quite independently capable of adapting to a sharp temperature change. However, this does not work during hot seasons, and Aki sometimes even faints from overheating.

Super Moves

• Beast Mode (ビーストモード Bīsutomōdo): Aki completely covers his body with lava, creating a semblance of a salamander monster with a height of about 2-3 meters, increasing his physical strength many times over.
• Salamander's Claws (サンショウウオの爪 Sanshō̄o no tsume):Aki covers his arms with lava, thereby increasing the power of his melee attacks. He also has claws instead of fingers that are capable of piercing any earth's surface through and through.
