Michiyo Haninozuka (The Anchor)

"I'm no more special than I always was. ...I mean now I have a sword that cuts through time and space but aside from THAT."

Michiyo will no doubt go down in history: as the Anchor who found it acceptable, to call her domain - Wayan Tariq - something as ridiculous as Corner of Awesomeness. With her happy-go-lucky, carefree, borderline reckless demeanor, many people do wonder how she could've possibly been nominated for her current position. Whoever gets to meet her, however, finds themselves eye to eye with a young woman who's as fierce as she is eager, and twice as capable to fulfill her duties, if that means well-being of her loved ones. Emotions may just be her greatest driving force, for both good and the bad. Good, because she's loyal to a fault. Bad... Because sometimes she offers that loyalty too quickly, or makes petty decisions, or both. She isn't, however, ashamed of accepting help or advice from those who want the best for her, and considers them thoughtfully. In the end, while flawed, she is a hard-working and capable leader, friend and most of all - guardian.

Bio
The youngest of seven siblings and the only girl, Michiyo was born into one of the royal families in her world. From her youngest years she showed way more interest in becoming a leader rather than a leader's wife - and especially after her mother's death she pursued that mindset tirelessly. The emperor, a man quite clueless about actually being a father, had little to no idea of what to do with her; and so she was mostly treated the same way as her six brothers - which only fueled her own desire of being "a part of their pack", "a member of the clique". She began a military career, rising to captain rank, before her skills and achievements were noticed by a very special person. Lady Viviana, the last Anchor before Michiyo, personally added her name to the pool of candidates. Soon enough, the girl faced the ultimate promotion.

The Anchor
Hundreds of worlds are connected to each other via Corner - and the Anchor is the person that ties it all together. They can be of any gender or age (although a fairly young adult is highly preferred, due to their physical prowess and life expectancy), and are appointed from a pool of exceptional individuals, nominated to said pool for some outstanding achievements made throughout their lives. A new Anchor is given an enormous magical power and becomes responsible for monitoring, guarding and most of all maintaining the balance between connected worlds, so the passage between them is safe and they do not crumble under each other's weight. An Anchor, of course, has a number of people around them to make the job easier; still, that is a scary position for just one person - until they eventually retire and the cycle begins again.

Each Anchor sports their emblem in the form of an accessory (for Michiyo, it's an armband) as well as their personal style of opening portals to connected worlds (Michiyo cuts them open with a short sword).

Powers
The full spectrum is pretty much unknown; known powers include: affinity to fire magic, detecting almost all arrivals or departures from the Corner (unless someone tries really hard to conceal themselves), opening up as a source of magic to her people, opening portals between worlds.
