Bio

OVERVIEW

Blackstar is Hitomi's prized champion racehorse. She is a purebred Straight Egyptian Arabian mare, homogeneous for the dominant black gene (EE) and is believed to be the daughter of the mighty stallion Shetan. Hitomi self trained the mare after she arrived at Dragon Hill and from there, they went on to conquer the world of horse racing.

BACKGROUND

Blackstar was born in the high desert of Egypt and while her true parentage is wholly unknown, it's believed she is the daughter of the mighty stallion, Shetan, owned by Alex Rasmey. Who her mother is, is uncertain but it's been said that the mare's coat could rival that of the darkest of nights. Blackstar has won many championship races and holds many prestigious titles such as 2 time Triple Crown Winner, 3 time Dubai World Cup Winner, and several dozen G1 Stakes races. She is also a 2 time Breeders Cup champion in the mare's division.

During downtime, when race season is over, she spends much of her time racing the winds in her mountain paddock. And while she has yet to produce a foal, there are future plans to see what progeny she can produce.

Personality

Due to her being an Arabian, Blackstar is fiery tempered and should only ever be handled by Hitomi or her trainer/coach Jason Mernez. His wife Clare Mernez will often help should the mare ever get injured, but otherwise doesn't have a hands on approach to her.

Hitomi Celeste Owner, rider, trainer and friend, Hitomi is the only rider that Blackstar will accept upon her back without raising a fuss. Hitomi's kind hands and easy going personality help outweigh the mare's high strung personality. Willing to put her mare's needs ahead of her own, Hitomi once saved Blackstar from a burning barn that had been struck by lightning and now helps her mount whenever a thunderstorm is nearby by making sure her weighted blanket is on her prior to the storm's arrival.

Jason Mernez Jason became Hitomi's coach and trainer after his former boss fired him due to a prized stallion not winning a high money earning race. Jason had been outspoken about the stallion not being fit to run after feeling 'heat' in the stallion's right front leg. Halfway to the finish line, the animal broke down after breaking his leg and later, had to be put to sleep. His former boss, to this day, blames Jason for the death of such a pricey animal and despises the winnings he's managed to rake in for Hitomi and her own horses over the course of 8yrs.

Clare Mernez Clare is Jason's beloved wife and best friend from University where she was studying to be an equine vet and he was studying the equine body overall. The two became fast friends and eventually lovers, later leading to them being married. Clare is Hitomi's most trusted friend and vet and is the only vet she'll trust around Blackstar and her other mounts.
