Halloway

The very odd prince of the kingdom. Halloway has half of what must be a dragon extending off the base of his spine - but the entire castle pays it no heed, as if it didn't exist. Halloway is very softspoken and passive; he's a sweet boy who likes nothing more than to learn and read. However, he is becoming more and more concerned that something is very, very wrong with him.

Becoming increasingly distressed, depressed, and melancholy as he gets older, Halloway eventually takes matters into his own hands and runs away... by jumping off a balcony in the middle of a royal address.

A long game of hide and seek and then a month traveling with a caravan teaches Halloway that he is, in fact, a full organic being and is meant to be the way he is - he is something called a lindwyrm, a type of dragon that takes on a human disguise. Not long after, though, the King's guards find Halloway and drag him unceremoniously back to the castle.

What Halloway doesn't know is that he has a third parent (as lindies do) who has been imprisoned deep in the castle, his mother's true lover and a significantly better father figure than King Saul.

Species Profile

Lindwyrms are a special kind of dragon that has magically adapted to life among their favorite prey: humans. By stealing a human's form via shared procreation, a lindwyrm is the most talented of all dragons at shapeshifting. It's much easier to shift into a form you already have than to make one entirely from scratch.

Unfortunately, due to dragon hunts and Lindies' dependancy on humans for the continuation of their species, their numbers have dwindled alarmingly low.
