born as the youngest on the outskirts of the sanctuary to devote parents , mercury was never a problem child to begin with. while she exhibited strange behaviors for a child her age , often speaking to invisible characters , she never started to struggle until the young age of five. by then , her mood could change at the drop of a hat. it wasn't exactly her own doing either , suffering with undiagnosed schizophrenia was a hard feat that any person could manage , let alone a child who didn't quite understand what she was dealing with. her parents could only afford so much , with her ill-stricken older brother needing medicine to keep himself afloat , and now her with this mental disorder. tireless nights , redistributing the wealth in any means possible to ensure they still had a roof over their heads and food , the family struggled to simply live.
all that was put to an end with a raid through her former village. both parents lives claimed , her crying out for some sort of comfort with her brother laid in her lap. nothing ever came ; no warm embrace of her mother , or gentle coo of her father could calm her down now. with no source of income either at such a young age , and no remaining family members , mercury was sentenced to watch her only brother wither away to the cruelest element of them all -- time.
eventually , her heart blackened at the events that had transpired , all without the interference of the royal family. all on her own , with no hold on her mental , mercury vows to enact revenge and ensure that the king will feel the same heartache she felt all these years ago.

her very own twisted obsession , lune's original purpose was to die at her hands and cause direct grief to king solaris. unfortunately for her , she's grown attached to the only ''friend'' she's ever had. just don't expect her to say it.
despite being the eldest of the monarchy , mercury never bothered to involve herself with estella ; nor did she keep the princess on her radar. especially since the latter cannot speak , she finds it to be a bit of a bore.
solus , annoying goody-two-shoes
the near-constant state of vexation when in his presence leaves her susceptible to bouts of frustration , mouthing off and glaring in his general direction because she can't stand him. she feels jealous on behalf of lune , because solus is so perfect.
solaris , blinding white-hot fury
the one she finds responsible for her non-exhaustive rage and still-bleeding heart. mercury wholeheartedly believes that solari is unfit for the throne , and a complete embarrassment of a leader. to her , he's selfishly living the lavish lifestyle while she's clinging to her neverending grief. unfair.
an unlikely development , given her volatile nature , but azalea brings out the child-like cockiness and good-natured competition in mercury. following the steps that madison had taught her , she defends leah from the torment of her older brother -- albeit in a curveball way.
way too friendly for her own comfort , mercury regards mana with utter sass and snark , making pointed comments and growing exasperated when the other can't seem to understand. her social battery is scarce around mana , so she often slinks to hide in lune's shadow to avoid her -- that is , if lune doesn't expose her.
anything that he does is an immediate and prominent bother to her , seeing him as a threat walking her territory like it belongs to him. his entitlement and wicked nature directly combats her own , and mercury feels rather irate with having to prove that she's the big bad around these parts.
only known as the mother of both azalea and adder , mercury can see her from time to time. not particularly interested in what the woman is about , or what she does , it's best to just carry on her way and ignore her.
prior to the attack , the queen occasionally brought relief to families that struggled , much like hers. some behaviors of mirage remind mercury of her late mother , and during a schizophrenic episode did she mistake the woman for her mother. despite this , mercury's a bit shy when it comes to the queen and watches from far.
