But I want to protect you...

Childhood

They were born in Kalos, but moved to Galar during their high school years. Their home in Kalos was near a large garden that their father maintained, and they spent most of their days playing there. They met their partner pokémon, Budew, in those very gardens! Other than a particular family friend who came to visit (whom they lost contact with when they moved), Budew was their only true friend, and they confided in him about pretty much everything.

It was a rather uneventful childhood. As they got older they spent more time wandering the Kalos region both for school and for fun, but ultimately they always ended up back in the gardens. It was a pleasant rhythm, albeit a bit monotonous, though it was all disrupted when they moved to Galar.

Galar

Galar was very different from Kalos, and they had a pretty hard time adjusting. They met most of their team in Galar, as they wandered around and explored their new home, although for a while, it was a constant cycle of being saved by their pokémon (both for minor things and genuinely dangerous situations). There were no fancy gardens in Galar quite like the one back in Kalos, so they widened their range to the wild area (which is part of the reason they got into trouble so often). Despite the danger, they found great comfort in the openness of the wild area.

They lived in Circhester, but spent a lot of time away from home (mostly in Motostoke and Ballonlea).

Present

Now, present day, they’ve gone beyond the gardens, and even beyond Galar’s wild area. They have made it their duty to travel all around the world and experience as much as they can. Partly out of sheer curiosity, but also because of a letter they got years after they moved… addressed to them, sent from an old friend who they thought had forgotten about them. They’re on a search for this dear friend, and no ocean will stop them from reuniting. At least, that’s what they say when asked about it.

While they never really cared for battling, their pokémon have grown pretty strong on their own. They can fend off anyone challenging them to a fight (unless they have fire types), and that’s all that matters.

  • They met Roserade and Florges in Kalos, and everyone else in Galar.
  • They have Gallade’s mega stone, but it’s pretty useless without a key stone…
  • Their ‘old friend’ from Kalos is just the gardener lol–he’s in this story too!
  • Having Roserade on their team is kind of a given… and I chose shiny Roserade because of the purple flowers.
Roserade

Who could have imagined… Rose’s partner pokémon is Roserade… What a coincidence… They became friends when Rose was very young, and have stuck by each other’s sides ever since. Though he is usually only motivated by food, Roserade is willing to put up a real fight should the situation require it.

Gallade

Gallade saved Rose’s life when he was still a Kirlia, and that is how the two of them met. He spends a lot of time training on his own, he lets Rose trust him to hold his own in a fight. They aren’t very close, but they have a mutual respect for each other.

Lurantis

She had already evolved when she joined Rose’s team. She’s the second most in-sync pokémon on the team (after Roserade, of course), which makes battles that she fights in very interesting. She moves like a whirlwind–she’s already on the attack before Rose has given the order.

Bisharp

Rose considers Bisharp to be their most difficult pokémon. She’s very powerful but also very reckless, resulting in quite the anomaly: Rose needing to save one of their pokémon instead of being saved by them! When her moves connect, her opponents drop like flies. Unfortunately, that hardly ever happens.

Aegislash

Rose only caught this pokémon when he had fully evolved into Aegislash, but in truth he’s been following Rose around since he was just a Honedge, in Kalos. Rose doesn’t know this, and they’ll likely never find out. For some unknown reason, he really respects Rose.

Florges

She has been Rose’s guardian (in place of their father) for… forever, basically. Since their father was always so busy, he assigned Florges to take care of his kid. Florges refuses to listen to Rose’s commands in battle, but she will unleash her power whenever her charge is in real danger. They owe her their life, basically.
