About

Jun is a standoffish girl who maintains a distance between herself and others. Feeling discomfort interacting with new people, she tends to dodge adeptly out of interactions and give people the cold shoulder when applicable. Uninterested in forming connections, she spends a lot of time by herself.

She is distrustful of people on a base level, and reacts cautiously when approached. She's not typically outright rude, unless the other person is first, or is especially obnoxious... or she's having a bad day. But there's a level of coldness to her interactions, and she tends to wall people off interpersonally. She's poor at accepting companionship, and it's hard to get her to take you seriously as someone she could be friends with. You have to work hard if you want her to take your feelings into serious consideration.

She hates being teased or joked around with, susceptible to taking things more personally than they were meant. She's rather difficult to amuse, as well, and is particularly good at suppressing positive reactions to things, so she's unlikely to laugh at your jokes or express much of any positive emotion unless in very specific scenarios.

Ever a pessimist, she's prone to being overcome with negativity; when things go wrong, it only reinforces her pessimistic mindset. Though she tries to put on a stoic front, she feels pain deeply, and can be moved to tears more easily than the average person, a trait that she finds deeply embarassing and desperately tries to curb. She's unconfident, and resistant to change, and very unlikely to take the advice of others unless they hold a particularly special place in her heart, a place that is difficult to achieve.

Being like this, she makes some attempts to watch herself. She doesn't want to be a cruel person. She's been trying to prevent herself from acting too coldly, or being too much of a bitch, so to speak. She'd like to alter herself into being a more welcoming person. But, well, it's hard to change your own nature.

Jun is 5'5", with pale skin dotted with light freckles and deep red-brown eyes. Her hair is straight and long, with blunt-cut bangs, naturally red but typically dyed an ashy blonde. Occasionally she'll hide her freckles under makeup.

She often wears dresses and skirts, dressing in a generally feminine style and leaning color-wise towards faded pinks and warmer neutrals. She likes to wear bows or similar decorations in her hair.

Story

Animalspeak

Living in a shared house off-campus, Jun dredges miserably through her final year of college. Fresh off of a breakup with her ex-boyfriend after both getting fed up with his toxicity and breaking through her many layers of compulsive heterosexuality, he has begun worming his way through her friends to try and turn all of them against her. Miserable and demotivated, she finds herself in the throes of a deep depression.

One day, walking through the city back home, a cat she is walking in the trail of asks her why she is following it, in perfect English. She does not know how to react. In the days following, she continues to hear animals speaking, increasing in frequency, cryptic messages directed specifically to her, and leading her to a specific place: the woods of her childhood town. Feeling insane and driven into action, she goes there, nighttime, armoured with a flashlight, intent on getting to the bottom of this.

Animals lead her deep into the heart of the woods, fog rising from the earth through the trees. Cold, damp and weary, her motivation wears, until she sees something through towards the center, like a mirage, through the fog-- the form of her childhood best friend, who vanished mysteriously when they were both still young.

The interaction's a haze, when she wakes up dazed in a pool of water, fog gone yet still night, moon still hanging in the sky. She's been deemed with a task -- to rescue her old friend from whatever in the woods has a hold of her. But then, isn't it unfair? To need to save someone when you're barely hanging on yourself. It's unfair, isn't it?

She's fine! I guess. She's the most recent person to have moved into the area, less than a year ago now, and she could be dealing better with it. Her family moved here from the city right after she graduated from highschool, and there's not much she can do about it here. She feels out of place, and adjusting to life in the middle of nowhere is going to take some time. But hey, she has at least one friend! Kind of! It's gotta count for something!

Talent (Defunct)

Despite being created this way, this info isn't actually applicable to her in any of her existing forms, but I might as well keep it logged. The 'Prankster' talent designation came about as something she did to punish people who she disliked, in an anonymous, non-harmful but deeply embarassing way. No need to attack your enemies if you can simply make a fool of them. Psychological warfare! Hooray! Her escapades slowly spiralled out of control, becoming more complex, more large-scale, the stuff of old school legends and viral internet photos.

Older now, she doesn't get the same satisfaction from her stunts, and isn't particularly proud of the title, especially if people are going to be knowing it's her. But, well, it's something she's good at, and if you have a knack for something, shouldn't you do it? At this point, it's just another outlet. Uh, I came up with this character concept a long time ago, though, and I don't think it's that good anymore, especially since the character has developed a lot outside of it.

Fun Facts

  • Her voice is medium in pitch and clear. She always sounds kind of cold even when she isn't particularly meaning to, as a voice-equivalent of RBF.
  • She also has normal RBF, often kind of looking tired and agitated. Or maybe she just is those two things all the time.
  • Her favorite color is pink :)
  • She doesn't keep live plants, but she likes flowers a lot. Her favorites are roses. She's never received any as a gift, but that would probably be exciting for her.
  • She doesn't like lying, so she usually tries to simply avoid talking about things she doesn't want to talk about instead.
  • Her favorite holiday is Halloween, but it's been some time since she's celebrated. It's fun to wear a costume and go to a party in theory, but lately not so fun in practice.
  • She plays some video games, definitely at least Pokemon as a kid. She has a shiny Glameow that she loves and never evolves.
  • The original dr oc character concept for Jun was a popular meangirl type who got excessively upset over deaths for comedic dissonance. I have no idea how she got from that to this. I accidentally gave her depression instead. Oops! Also she looked like a scene girl for some reason
  • In the first roleplay she was in she killed someone almost immediately then died. In the second roleplay she was in it didn't get past the beginning chapter, but if it had she would have killed someone almost immediately then died.
  • Here's her old character playlist. You can tell it's old because it used to be hosted on 8tracks and also because it was when I was bold enough to make character playlists. It's not that poorly fitting all things considered?
  • Here's her old execution too. I put a lot of work into this but now it's so embarassing to me that I can't read it anymore. But you can!

Oreri Oshiro [ acquaintence ]

They have things in common, but rarely speak. It's mostly Jun's fault. She has nothing against Oreri on a personal level, but interacting with someone who is in the same exact (or worse!) situation as her who is also considerably more well-adjusted and personable makes her feel... unpleasant.
