Luther was born in the town of Edinborough to a wealthy family of alchemists. He lived his life spoiled. As he got older, his parents started to teach him more about alchemy and prepared Luther to follow in their footsteps. Luther followed his parents instructions thinking he could get away and do something else with his life, but when he realized he was actually being forced to be an alchemist, he had no choice in his mind but to run away, ignoring the whispers of enemies coming to attack the village.
Luther walked for two days to another town close to Edinborough, but he got tired of the rough life and decided to head back home, hoping to apologize to his parents and complete his alchemist training. When he reached his town, however, he saw it was up in flames. His father and mother died in the attack, and Luther was broken the horrible truth of his family's alchemy by the perpetrator of the attack, Sceledrus Shade. His parents were killing people with their wares, and the attack was targeted specifically at them.
Luther vowed to defeat Scelderus Shade, but Scelderus sliced open Luther's eye to make a statement. Luther then passed out and woke up a few days later in another town. He was the only survivor of the Edinborough Massacre. After healing, a few months after the attack, Luther returned to his home and discovered a golden cross. His family did not practice any form of Christianity. Luther believed it to be a sign that he should dedicate himself to God and become a Paladin.
Luther began training and serving God as a Paladin for two years, until he noticed the eye that was destroyed in the Massacre began to hurt. Removing his eyepatch, Luther was amazed to find that his eye had grown back, but it had become a bright gold instead of brown. His Paladin energy increased with his newfound holy strength, and he was ready to start his quest of Vengeance.
Luther and Cadmus stopped to explore the Delear Archepelago, trying to possibly uncover some secrets about the legendary Bat Queen for a few gold by a librarian. However, according to the locals, rain had been pouring for ten days and ten nights, overflowing the oceans and causing massive tides. Luther and Cadmus had to stay at a tavern for a few days to wait out the rain, but it appeared as if it wasn't going to stop. At this tavern, they met a young girl and her pet cat. Luther was kind and friendly to this girl, but their interactions were cut short by a dragon attacking the island.
Luther and Cadmus scaled the rooftops to defeat the dragon, but no battle was necessary, as the two of them had enough power to intimidate the wyrmling. The young maiden appeared to defeat the dragon, but it was too late for her. The girl was introduced as Rhihea, and she said she was on a quest to stop the goddess Durumis from causing havoc on the archepelago. Luther and Cadmus decided to join the girl on her quest, diving into the ocean to find Durumis's ruins. They found the ruins and summoned the Goddess, where Luther became the last thing Durumis would see. Rhihea was also discovered to be the Goddess of Flame, Dawn, and Regeneration.
Durumis's defeat would cause the Great Pantheon to fall, and Luther joined Cadmus and Rhihea in the quest of investigating it. Luther watched Rhihea and Cadmus bond in their journey. At the Pantheon, Cadmus turned corrupted by the dark God Xladmir, exposing a tattoo that had been imprinted on him from the body of Durumis. Luther and Rhihea joined forces to knock out Cadmus and destroy the evil aura from around the Pantheon. The Pantheon gates uncovered the Riddle of Six Gods, and Luther discovered that Rhihea would have to die in order to open them. Luther's dedication to Rhihea made him promise to protect her, and that she would live until her death was absolutely necessary.
However, Rhihea would die a few minutes later, killed by a Mephit. Luther saved Rhihea's life by preserving her spirit in Cadmus's wand. In her weakened state, Rhihea can only speak the language of the Gods, a skill that Luther had acquired during his Paladin journey. Luther and Cadmus dedicated themselves together to getting Rhihea a new body, hopefully killing the four other gods needed on the way.
On the way to Rhihea Village, they stopped at Unear Village, where they handled a gold theif. In the mountains, Luther and Cadmus also saved five dwarves in a mine collapse, where they met the spirit of the Dark God Xladmir. Luther spoke with Xladmir and was alerted to his plans, but he then destroyed the spirit; Cadmus taking the final hit. They then climbed to Unear's Kingdom, where Luther slayed Unear himself, taking his teeth to use at the Pantheon doors. Luther also learned more about Xladmir's mission by speaking to Unear.
