Summary

Laplace is a very eccentric but intelligent man with a very overinflated sense of self-righteousness and an even bigger hero complex. Laplace is always convinced that he is the only person on this earth capable of “slaying the surplus of hellish entities and spirits that plague our realm”. He is, for the most part, very protective of those he deems worthy of it, fearing that his presence brings evil and that it will hurt those around him. Therefore, he tends to be very insistent and even pushy about certain practices that would help people, such as insisting to teach people banishment rituals and even insisting on guarding people’s doors at night.

Personality

Laplace is very quick to act and make decisions on a whim, deciding right then and now what would be "best" for him to do and leaving the consequences for later. He may threaten people or even outright attack them seemingly unprovoked, and it is difficult to get a grip on his motivations for doing so. For someone who says that he refuses to let emotions into his work, he acts based off of his own anger quite often. Trying to talk to Laplace is like trying to break a brick wall with an egg. Once he has his mind set on something it is set in stone, and extremely difficult to change. He is nigh unmovable on any decision he makes, and more often than not he regards his own word as law, and expects other people to follow it as well. He is especially set in his opinions of people, and it can be quite difficult to get him to like you if you made a bad first impression with him, which is remarkably easy to do.

If there is any emotion that Laplace is ready to display, it is anger. He is always angry at everyone and everything, and it rarely calms down. It is much easier to stoke it, resulting in passionate fits of rage that can extremely quickly become violent. Laplace is not afraid to hurt people if he deems it necessary, and considering the delusions that he often has, his view of "necessary" is quite skewed. Much of Laplace's loathing is directed towards himself, as he believes himself to be a beacon of the very things he is meant to destroy. He believes that evil follows him everywhere he goes, and thus he is extremely hesitant to be near people and especially to bond with them out of fear that he will somehow bring them harm. He is quick to blame bad things that happen in his presence on himself, and thus tasks himself with solving the problem, even if he had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Laplace is a hunter of demons, not of people, and he tasks himself with the protection of mankind. He believes that the safety of those around him falls in his hands, and so does their blood if he fails. Therefore he is extremely adamant in keeping people safe, even if he doesn't like them, and is willing to teach them minor rituals and such so that they may protect themselves as well. Laplace can often become convinced that things mean much more than they actually do, which leads him to intense paranoia and occasionally delusions that often get out of hand. More often than not it is related to the supernatual, in which he can become convinced that someone is actually a demon in disguise, or possessed by a spirit, or something of a similar nature. If these delusions become intense enough he is known to resort to violence, as he believes it is his duty to purge the world of a "threat" that does not truly exist.
