About

As the god of night itself, Niatryis was one of the first gods to form in the Vastian pantheon, shaping the cosmos themselves into form to create his lute. He grew fond of the Vastians, and ruled the world fairly and justly, bringing starlight and song into the world. Until, suddenly, his own life was snuffed out.

His relics lay scattered across the planet, the final remnants of his power glowing dimly within them. But as they're collected and brought together, something begins to stir, deep within the constellations. They say gathering all the relics will grant you one wish... will it bring him back, as well?

Notes

  • When his dreads are undone, they'll meld into a cosmic miasma at the ends. Especially when his powers are in use.
  • Sometimes he has glowing constellation tattoos on his skin, sometimes he doesn't. It depends on how he's vibing. He's a god, he can change it at will.
  • He has two ear piercings at all time--two helix studs in his left ear, a helix hoop on his right.
  • His blood is a golden ichor.
  • I've drawn his cloak as a full-length cloak or as more of a hoodie. Both are correct. I'm flexible.
  • Typically found wearing his moon cloak, star boots, and highwaisted black or blue pants--whether or not he's wearing a shirt is up in the air.
  • Sometimes wears a constellation crown, or a flower crown, or no crown at all.
  • Every flick of his tail and ears scatters about stardust, each swish of the tail swirling the stars, stars forming where he walks. They say the bridge of stars in the sky is where he walks each night sending mortals their dreams.

Personality

Friendly Reserved
Polite Blunt
Clever Foolish
Sensitive Tough
Brave Timid
Careful Reckless
Sincere Deceptive
Diligent Lazy
Calm Irritable
Humorous Serious

Can be a bit cocky, but that's just what happens when you're a god! He's a kind god, but is scarce to give up an opportunity to show off. Loves mortals, he thinks they're Neat. Can be a bit of a dork, especially with those he loves/is fond for, like mortal flings, demigods, his beloved Star friends, and melodies of all sorts. Loves to have a bit of harmless fun, but is still exceptionally wise. He's very aware of his power, and though he uses them for his own pleasures, he's always careful of the ramifications of larger acts.

Likes

Singing

Whether it's to woo, to manipulate, or just for the fun of it, Niatryis loves to sing. Some myths say he speaks exclusively in song--though that's not true, he can be caught singing more often than not.

Archery

If he's not singing and dancing, you're likely to find him practicing his archery. Of course, he's already a perfect shot, but he likes to be smug about just how far he can aim.

Animals

Sometimes he likes to make creatures out of stardust, just to watch them move amongst the cosmos. That's where some constellations come from, even.

Flirting

He's real good at it. He has relationships with mortals all the time, and will often rib and banter with some of the other gods in the pantheon. There's tales of a few flings with other gods, even.

Sex

Iconography

Owls

Some myths say that owls are his vessels to see the human realm. Other tales tell of him appearing before followers and lovers in the form of a black owl with star-flecked eyes.

Lyre

A blue lyre emblazoned with star and moon symbols is what he's most commonly seen depicted with in art. Legend says he crafted that lyre into form with the cosmos themselves, and as he played the first notes, music itself was born.

Moonflowers

The delicate white vining flowers are said to be his favorite. It's said they'll grow in places he frequents--as such, ardent worshippers will plant them at their altars and arond their homes to gain his favor.

Pine Trees

Some say the stars themselves are held up at the very ends of the branches of giant pine trees.

Misc. Icons

Moon cloak, stars, moons, panthers, dark sword, bow and arrow.

Moodboard

Powers

Godhood

As a god, Niatryis possesses superior strength, shapeshifting, darkness manipulation, and can control/harness moonlight energy, and can create stars and constellations. He can grant boons.

Siren Song

He can pull anyone under his sway by singing or playing an instrument. Make them fall asleep, control their thoughts, make them dance for eternity, etc.

Healing

Anytime he heals someone, they'll have a scar that's a milky white and glows like moonlight. Once, he replaced someone's eye, and the pupil changed with the phases of the moon. Healing himself typically leaves no scars--however, after his death, any appearances of him in the dreams of mortals features either a gaping galaxy-hole in his chest, or a healed scar that glitters like stardust.

Singing and Music

He's the god of music, love. Hand him an instrument, and he'll blow your away.

Creation

Can create any weapon or instrument out of darkness or moon energy within instants. He has a heavy preference for swords, bows, daggers, and lyres.

Spellcasting

Intimately familiar with the ancient language of the gods imbued with magic. Comparatively, even the wisest, most studied mages only know at most fragments of some words.

Summary

Niatryis_commission_v1_trans.png

The God of Night is said to be one of the oldest of the gods, alongside his brother Onyxias (the god of the dead) and his life partner Theeascia (the goddess of life). He helped rule over the world fairly and justly... until he disappeared without a trace. Some say they wander the Earth as a mortal, their powers ripped away and all memory forgotten,but... who, or what, could do that to a god?

Enemy

When the strange goddess stepped into his realm and began her path of destruction, concerned didn't even begin to describe how he felt. Especially when she turned her chaos towards him. Usually one to avoid confrontation, when the fate of the realm is on the line, he was quick to retaliate. But ultimately, they destroyed each other.

It's such a shame, really. Had she just explained her situation, he would have tried to find a peaceful solution. Perhaps even been friends. Perhaps... more.

(Psst, an ironic crack ship quickly became a favorite AU ship of mine!)
