Jeremy Nocturne (RP - One Big Happy Family)

Jeremy Nocturne is one of the primary adults involved in the Happy Family home. 

Appearance

Jeremy is a man of about average height, sporting a head of medium, light brown hair styled and swept up and to the sides. He's unnaturally pale, almost paper white, with deeply sunken, light-grey eyes. An unusual monocle shaped birthmark trails down from his left eye, all the way to the base of his chin. He appears to wear overly formal clothing not fitting for the current time period; the ensemble consists of a black and gold tailcoat with a deep red inner lining, a white dress shirt, purple vest with golden accents, a red ascot tie, black trousers, purple socks, and black dress shoes. Occasionally while working around the house, you may find him sporting a pink apron on top of the whole ensemble, which he will defend with his life. 

Personality

The host of the Great Big Happy Family Home. Jeremy is a very openly warm and caring person at his forefront. It doesn't take much for him to get attached to someone and feel a certain amount of responsibility for them, even if it's a burden he'd rather not bear. There's a stiff, formal air about him when he approaches others, as he's desperately trying to give off an appearance of capability and calm. In reality, he can be quite high strung and easily stressed out if things aren't just so. He also suffers from bouts of anxiety and paranoia, which he has to balance out with the wild environment of the household. He's seemed to be picking up a level of snark and sarcasm from the rest of his family members as of recent, though, so he fights their fire with just as sassy fire. All in all, he's a few strings from snapping but willing to put himself on the line because of his care for others.

Skillset

• Domestic/ Home Economics - Takes great pride in performing the care taker tasks of the house. The cooking, the cleaning, the repairs, etc. Whether he's awake enough to perform them properly, however, is another story.
• Mechanical Maintenance - Little is it know to most of the group, but Jeremy has a fine knowledge of mechanical repair alongside the basic household chores he takes part in. He feels much more pride in this skill of his. 

Unique Abilities

• Aura Detection - Jeremy's empathy towards others goes beyond just his host-like nature. He can pick up the general mood of another being in the form of an aura around them. This ability also allows him to automatically detect/absorb the fears of others around him. He's no longer able to tell which fear was absorbed from who, having shunned the ability ages ago, but the longer he's around someone, the stronger the fear in him gets. He's usually able to narrow it down if he's around people long enough.
• Emotion Eating - Human food is not exactly Jeremy's menu of choice - he had to teach himself how to eat human food at all without rejecting it. His body's natural choice of nourishment is the emotions of others, specifically their fear. After picking out an aura of fear, all it takes is mentally reaching out to the source to leach off of them. The victim will feel a heightened, almost hyper-focused version of the emotion while the feeding is going on, further fueling the amount of fear being taken. Feeding can be stopped at any time, with the victim entering a state of numbness shortly afterwards (intensity of this depending entirely on how long they were fed off of). If the victim is totally feasted on, or if they've been partially eaten from too many times, their emotional capacity will shatter - what this means exactly depends on the individual, but none of the results are positive. As Jeremy's discovered the consequences for over-feeding on a human, he takes only the barest flicks of their fear for himself when he can, just enough to survive on. He can't risk breaking any of his new family, but he also needs their fear to function. 
• Flight - A favorite of Jeremy's! He does sport a pair of black feathered wings, though he keeps them retracted whenever he's around the family, as he's desperately trying to pass for human. Still, if he needs to get somewhere quickly at night while he's alone, then you can bet he'll be taking off. He'll just be hyper-cautious of who's catching him doing the flying.
• Transformation - This ability is one he's still developing, and it's a slow and painful process. Ever since a few months ago, Jeremy discovered that at or near the stroke of midnight, his body undergoes a bone breaking, monstrous transformation to bring out the creature of nightmares hiding beneath his skin. It's one of the stages of his 'monster-creature puberty' which he forcibly suffers through, even if it does basically tear his preferred body apart down to the muscles themselves. It'll be years before he can control it for himself, years that'll leave some of the torment as permanent scars to his body, but so long as he can keep it hidden from the family, he'll just have to deal with that alone...

Relationships

Paul Prospero

A fellow resident of the home - the one who makes Jeremy pull his hair out more than anyone. His exact relationship is rather difficult to settle on. One day they could be throwing sparks at each other (Jeremy of course blowing off more than his irritating rival), the next, they could come to a calm, mutual understanding. He does respect the man and all the sacrifices he gives for the family (the money his job brings home, hell, the home itself is technically Paul's), but the constant danger he brings not only to himself but to the whole family has rung many bells of concern in Jeremy's mind. 

Pent Montrey

One of the children who reside in the home. The one that gives him the most headaches, probably. He's too curious for his own good and constantly tries to get in everyone's business. He makes a good investigative partner when they do happen to join forces against Paul, but a mighty foe when that curiosity is pointed back at Jeremy. He does have his charming moments, though.

AARON AMIAS

One of the teenagers who reside in the home. He doesn't have much of an opinion on him except "bratty teen who's looking too hard for attention." He often has to mother him out of bed in the mornings or other menial things.

GENÈVA

One of the children who reside in the home. She unnerves him, if he's honest with himself. He's always very put off by things that don't make sense, and it's clear that this girl makes absolutely none at all. Not to mention she's always leaving such a mess in her wake! While he puts up with her artistic antics, he can't say he supports them. 

ALPHONSO WEBER

Paul's physician and guest to the family. While first impressions weren't the best, Jeremy quickly came to a liking of his stern, strong ways. That is, when they're pointed at Paul. Somehow, he got himself noticed by the man, and he's really not appreciating the attention. He's supposed to be the caretaker around here, not this stranger! And ESPECIALLY NOT TAKING CARE OF HIM, NO SIR, NO WAY. 

Trivia

• Clothes are merely an illusion! He'll never take off his suit ensemble, because that's attached to his body. You'll often see him with an apron on top of it, though.... Hon, I'm sorry but it kind of clashes...
• Quite well-versed with a whip. Even if it does remind him of the life he ran away from, the skills he possesses with it are all his own, so he won't be ashamed of it.
• Has considered getting a job in the past, but with how much work there is around the house? It would fall apart if he wasn't there to keep everything together! He does do a few side jobs here and there, using his mechanics knowledge to make a quick buck or two, but nothing steady. Seeing as how there's only one other income in such a large household, it's a wonder where the money to support themselves comes from...
• None in the family knows about his history - it's kind of a house rule Jeremy laid down that no one needs to dispel any information about themselves that they're uncomfortable with (though certain members of the house seem to ignore this rule - even himself at times, when someone's past is causing trouble for the rest of them). Some might suspect something is off about him, but no one's brought anything up as of yet. Jeremy prefers it that way.
• His medical knowledge is quite deep - almost like he has a lot of experience with handling injuries.
• His metabolism is severely stunted in comparison to that of a human being, making it difficult for substances to fully make it through his system.
