Madeline is a human member of the Yes You Can Carnival, a place that welcomes supernatural outcasts. Madeline herself isn't the slightest bit supernatural, but has become part of that world thanks to an ex-boyfriend who revealed himself to be a mage and taught her about the existence of his hidden underworld of magic and monsters. Said ex-boyfriend was a possessive, manipulative, mind-controlling bastard, and after managing to extricate herself from his clutches Madeline ended up at the carnival. Her new "family" are well aware of the problems with her ex, and he would find an extremely prickly reception should he ever come looking for her.

Madeline's main skill is as a driver; she takes the carnival and its equipment from place to place and she has a lot of interest in vehicles in general, especially big trucks, which she used to drive for a living. When the carnival is set up somewhere she is usually a ride operator/supervisor, and sometimes dresses up to be one of the eye candy girls in the big top if they need an extra.

Madeline is currently "dating" the dark clown entity Beau Boggart, but she is really not sure how she feels about this. Is this some weird rebound thing? Is this just who she is now?? This feeling of "what is my life" is a recurring theme for Madeline since she was inducted into the world of the supernatural, as it keeps revealing some fresh weirdness that she has to take into her stride.
