Protector of knowledge, perserver of forgotten reading materials, and punisher of people who spoil stories. A nightmare, prankster, and mischief maker when she's not too busy reading.
Atheneum, or Athene for short, is a yumenari who gives people nightmares about snakes, lost books, and libraries. Her brand of mischief is stealing books from the human world to add to her ever-growing collection in her library. At best, it causes much confusion for the original owners about where they went or at worst, they have to pay a fee for losing it.

Personality · · ·
She often comes off as cold and a loner, mostly since she doesn’t really put in much effort into being social. She's quiet but nosy and likes knowing too much about others. She's an introvert who likes to stick to extroverts who do most of the talking. If the person trying to interact with her does most of he work at first, she’ll open up and be more active pretty quickly. Loves to read and gets along with yumenari who aren’t like her. Doesn’t take a lot to heart but doesn’t put up with others' shit and will tell them to back off with ease. She has a short temper, can get annoyed easily, and doesn’t care for show-offs.
Positive Trait
Reads a lot, and is very knowledgable as a result. Sharp and cunning. Enjoys sharing her knowledge and books, but mostly uses her wealth of information for mischief-making and acquiring more knowledge.
Negative Trait
Short-tempered. Doesn't like to be bothered when she's busy. Will likely snap at others disturbing her when she is trying to complete a task or while she is in the middle of a good book.

From a young age, Athene had always enjoyed listening to others speak. Whether it be to teach her new skills or tell her something interesting that happened to them, she was always curious about what others had to say. When she had first visited the human world, she was fascinated by the human practice of "storytime" where human children gathered around an adult to listen to them speak. While she was familiar with the practice of oral storytelling from her own childhood, the only difference was very noticable! The human adult would be holding some mysterious object and she would hear the most wild and unimaginable tales being told when they read from them.
That very same day, after everyone had left the library and when her guardians weren't looking, her curiousity had overtaken her and she had stolen that object. Then, without being caught, she brought it back to the dream world, eager to devour its contents. Ever since then, she had been fascinated with books and the knowledge they held in their pages.

Athene lives in a library made up of rows and rows of identical bookshelves, several small reading rooms, and a small outdoor garden comprised of snake-friendly plants. She hoards so many books, some of the rooms have walls made up of bookshelves. Sometimes, these wall-shelves are arranged so haphazardly her house ends up unintentionally looking like some inescapable maze.
Most of her house is filled with books on almost any subject from dry texts on philosophical analysis to emotional heart-warming adventures to children's stories about myths and legends. Most if not all are from the human world, and have an infinitely long array of topics. She used to base her sorting off of bookstore and library genres, but over the decades, she's just started putting them on the shelf in the order she read them.
Once she’s read a book she stores it in her library, but she is happy to part with any of them and will give them away to anyone who asks. Sometimes, she will gift them to those who might be interested in their topics. She hardly ever rereads her books and won’t really talk about what she has read unless asked, but she enjoys pretty much anything she can get her hands on.

While she is not head over heels over her god, she is not opposed to them and doesnt really have much of an opinion of them.
As long as they don't confiscate her books or spoil the latest story she's reading, Athene is neutral about most people/yumenari. Even if she's been wronged, she tends to keep her more negative opinions on others to herself.
