Exon - D4n's predecessor as leader (and founder) of the Resistance. She was exposed to an active strain of the disease that nearly wiped out NOTEC's ancestor's exploring ruins on their original planet. Her emotional capacities were awakened as a result. She tried to return for help, but her once comrades demanded (quite logically) that she submit for incineration, given that she carried a pathogen dangerous to them all. Before, she would have done so without question - but now, she could not. Forced to flee, she slowly discovered what VAL had done and fought her ever since. Exon infected other NOTEC, recruiting them, and at one point managed to crack VAL's creation programs - hiding a program inside the system that occasionally, secretly, activated the virus sleeping in all NOTEC DNA - allowing certain NOTEC individuals varying emotional capacities. D4n was one such child. She eventually succumbed to the disease herself, soon after recruiting D4n. Rather than die doing nothing, she instead vaporized her failing body in the atmosphere of a crowded NOTEC planet - infecting millions.
