Daichi Nakahara-Dazai (中原•太宰 大地, Nakahara-Dazai Daichi) is the protagonist of Bungou Stray Kids and a supporting character in Bungou Stray Students. He is a member of the Junior Armed Detective Agency and the leader of Division One.

Daichi is a young man with chin-length, wavy black hair and heavy-lidded ocean blue eyes. His bangs are messily arranged around his face, most gathered around his forehead. Two tufts frame either side of his face. He's taller than the average height for a Japanese teenager, standing at 5'11", however, it's noted that he is underweight.

Daichi wears a ripped black trench coat, belt removed, over a blue turtleneck sweater. During the beginning of Bungou Stray Kids, white bandages are seen wrapped around his torso, arms, and part of his neck. Later, they are removed, revealing a vivisection scar down from the middle of his collarbone to just above his crotch area. 

After the explosion incident, Daichi wears a fabric mask concealing the lower half of his face.

During "Daichi, Michi, Fifteen Years Old", Daichi wears his father, Dazai Osamu's, trench coat instead of his signature black one.

During "DEAD APPLE: REVIVED", while meeting with Mila Dostoevsky and Izanagi Shibusawa, he wears a white three-piece suit and a long fur coat that he wears around his shoulders and drags on the floor. Michi mentions that it mimics a bridal veil.

Daichi is a carefree young man

At the age of twelve, Daichi was abducted by enemies of his fathers. This event was titled "Yokohama Mafia Revival", as it spurred on mafia activity in the city. He was tortured through vivisection and eventually rescued by Chuuya.

At the age of fifteen, he and his younger twin sister, Michi, went out and explore Yokohama without their parents' permission, and Daichi had the opportunity to verge of the edge of Pandora's Box: Corruption Zone when a group attempted to mug the two children.

At the age of sixteen, Daichi took his entrance exam and successfully passed, becoming a member of the Junior Armed Detective Agency. He became the leader of Division One at an unknown point, but is implied to be when he was eighteen.

Pandora's Box (パンドラの箱, Pandoranohako) allows Daichi to bend reality as he pleases. In its normal form, he can only change small things, such as the probability of a coin to fall on a certain face, or changing the gravity in a small area to pull something towards him. In fact, for most of the story, it presents itself as a gravity manipulating ability, like Upon the Tainted Sorrow.

When fully activated, Pandora's Box enters its second stage, referred to as its Corruption Zone by Michi and Chuuya Nakahara-Dazai, or its Danger Zone by Mila Dostoevsky. As Corruption is only shown once in Bungou Stray Kids, its full ability is unknown, though it allows Daichi to manipulate reality on a larger scale, seen when he tears a chunk of Yokohama out of the ground to create a battleground for him and Mila Dostoevsky, and when he uses his quarter to remove the latter's ability.
