Profile

Monarch has NightWing in her family tree, though it’s been a few generations of SilkWing since then. This is both how she is able to have black scales as a SilkWing and why she manifested the power of prophecy on her hatching day under a single full moon, though the power itself is weak thanks to her diluted blood. Her prophecies come in strong feelings and strange dreams, nothing more. This is what prompted her to run as soon as she started experiencing the tell-tale signs of a SilkWing ready to metamorphasize: aching wing buds, a nervous and fuzzy feeling permeating her body, and itching silk glands - itching that soon became a burning, glowing pain. A frighteningly intense sense of impending doom struck her out of the blue, and Monarch knew she had to run. She didn’t know why, or what was going on, but she knew she had to go, NOW. She followed the route that gave off the least alarming feeling, unknowingly being steered clear of any HiveWing guards by her prophetic ability. Once outside, Monarch immediately made a beeline for the Poison Jungle, and just barely made it before it was time to metamorphasize. And much to her shock, even as out of it as she was in the thrall of the metamorphosis trance, flamesilk spilled from her glands, weaving a glowing cocoon around herself. As soon as her metamorphosis was done and Monarch emerged from her cocoon, she tested out her adult silk glands - just to make sure she hadn’t been imagining things - and yup, that was flamesilk. Immediately, the reason for her run became clear: HiveWings take flamesilks away somewhere, and they’re never seen again. Monarch was quick to use her silk to break her cuffs before fleeing deeper into the jungle.

Monarch enjoys weaving lanterns and glowing tapestries, and giving presents to her friends. She’s a bit passive and hates confrontation, but has a spine of steel when push comes to shove. Out of necessity, Monarch’s gotten very, very good at hiding, to the point where she can disappear into the surrounding flora in seconds and not be found despite being, well, an orange and black dragon with brightly colored caterpillar stripes.
