Akiko is the heiress to the Sumeru clan, which is a clan of trained samurai. When the Raiden Shogun announced the Vision Hunt Degree, her clan was hired out to hunt down some of these Vision bearers who had attempted to escape. However, shortly after the decree was made her own father, the head of the Sumeru Clan, was summoned and his own Vision was seized as a test of faith to the Raiden Shogun. Akiko watched her father change, however, and become weak and lackluster. Once this happened, her own Vision was demanded. Rather than turn into the same as her father had, she decided to flee. She took refuge with the Sangonomiya Resistance, and began fighting for their cause. She was dubbed the "Winds of Victory" in large part due to her consistent victories in battle, and she worked very hard to be allowed into the Strategy Tent, and for her opinions to be heard.
