Elena was diagnosed with both autism and ADHD at a young age and despite her flaws was a very loved kid with lots of support from her parents. They loved her dearly and never let her think that something might be wrong with her; she was just one of a kind, and that was okay. She spent her early childhood happy but alone - no one really wanted to play with her, but that was not a problem for her at that time. She just enjoyed her own company and used to talk to her toys. 

When she was 6, her parents died in a car accident that she was in, too. Her grandparents decided to take care of her instead of giving her to an orphanage. It was a very hard time for her; she didn't understand what happened and why her parents will never come back. The trauma from the accident and losing her parents was so strong she stopped talking for a few years, but eventually recovered enough to be able to speak. The only downside was, that her speech became more quiet and slower.

Elena struggled at school, a lot. She had trouble concentrating during classes and then learning the material on her own. Her grades were bad and no matter how hard she tried, there weren't much improvement. To add to that, her classmates never bothered to befriend her and instead bullied her because she was everything. Teachers did nothing about that. She eventually had to repeat a class twice. This eventually led to self-harm and drug abuse, as Elena had no idea what else would bring her some comfort. Because of that, she was a regular on a psych ward and at rehab, after multiple suicide attempts and drug overdoses.

During one of those stays at rehab, when whe was almost 18 years old, she met Emil and Tomi who quickly befriended her. She was so thankful to have somebody that would talk to her and try to understand her, giving her all the patience she needed. A week after she was admitted her grandmother died. The trauma and grief prolonged her stay as she wasn't able (and didn't want) to put herself back together. She was given an ex officio legal guardian she truly hated, so Tomi offered to become a legal guardian for her once they all get out of the rehab. During the same stay she and Emil decided to date.

Now, Elena lives together with Emil in a flat they rent from Tomi's friends and tries to finish school. Emil and Tomi do everything to make Elena's life easier and more comfortable and fight for her rights when she's not heard. She's slowly recovering from her addictions as well and on a good way to overcome them.
