About
Don't let her bubbly disposition and clumsiness fool you, underneath lies a big brain. Akira is a tech genius with a degree in exolinguistics, rendering her essential for the team. On top of her standard duties as a communications officer, Akira runs a shipwide broadcast, but more accurately, radio show. Good music and a nice story helps keep morale high while they're all so far from home.
Akira is part of a space-ship crew leading a humanitarian effort. 100 years prior the Erisians lent a hand to Earth and allowed it to advance beyond it's means. Now the two planets have joined forces to do the same for others.
Personality
Akira is a very upbeat girl with big dreams. She does what she can to be helpful around the ship but leaves lenty of time to good off with her grilfriend. Being part of a spaceship's crew can be taxing but she takes things in stride and tries to keep a laid back attitude. She brings a lot of energy to the crew and keeping their outlook optimistic.

Notes
- It's standard in this universe for people to dress in greyscale and one accent color. Akira sticks with lighter greys and white, with a light redish-pink accent color.
- Akira actually has two main outfits. The one shown here is her crew uniform. Her other outfit can be found in her gallery.
- In total, Akira has at least seven majorly visible scars, most of which she got accidentally hurting herself on the ship.
- Despite having Erisian blood, her outward appearance much more reflects that of a human.

Likes
Idol Animes
She's not sure if it's the strong themes of friendship or the general optimism but idol animes always catch her interest.
Cats
She can't resist the temptation to cuddle a kitty given the chance. She's mildly obsessed with them aesthetically as well.
City Pop
She loves the vibe city pop has, it's always her go to genre, especially when feeling down. It's a clear favorite to play on the ship's radio.
Dislikes
Horror Films
Akira is pretty easily frightened when it comes to horror movies, so she avoids them when she can.
Bugs
Ironically enough with a nickname like Bug, Akira is terrified of them. Each new planet seems to have an even worse creepy crawly and she can't help but scream if they get too close to her.
Fighting
With how her parents raised her, Akira is a firm believer in talking through issues (and stepping away for a minute to cool down if needed) instead of arguing.
Extra
Radio Show
Having to pull some strings to get there, Akira has her own ship-wide radio broadcast she runs outside of her normal duties. She gets to play music she enjoys, tell stories, and in general provide entertainment to her other crewmates to make ship life more bearable.
Tech Genius
One of Akira's favorite hobbies is to tinker with various tech, and on occassion inventing her own. She'll often upgrade her and Cheyenne's comm bracelets, as well as sprucing up Cheyenne's
Strengths
Clever Mind
Akira has always been a very intelligent girl, which helped her excel in school. Her big brain is one of the reasons the SC Vega recruited her in the first place.
Exolinguistics
In her secondary education, Akira decided to focus on exolinguistics, the study of alien languages. She knows the conversational basics for countless languages and is considered in fluent in at least 10.
Weaknesses
Clumsiness
Despite how smart she may be, nothing could stop how clumsy Akira is. She's constantly tripping over things and hurting herself accidentally.
Easily Distracted
Akira's attention span is less than average, getting too invested in whatever else catches her eye. Although a problem in her daily life, she's able to concentrate when working.
Summary
Akira's responsiblities on the SC Vega range from relaying communications from other ships and planets, acting as a translator for missions, and running her lighthearted radio show in her downtime. Serious while on the clock, knowing how important her job can be in their line of work, Akira is quite the goofball off. She loves to chat up other crew members, spend time bugging Cheyenne (affectionately), or hanging out with Amity. It's not infrequent she ends up in the infirmary from various small mishaps, a scrape from tripping, or a mild burn or two from a failed attempt at tinkering.
New Romantic Sailors follows Akira and the SC Vega crew as they travel across the universe helping planets in need. It's a slice-of-life style story chronicling the little bits of their everyday lives and adventures.
History
Akira was born to a Human-Erisian family, with her father having emigrated from Earth to Eris. She was raised soley on Eris and had a very good childhood. Her parents instilled hope and a strong moral sense into her from a young age, and that blossomed into a desire to help others however she can.
She started her education on the gifted track, skipping a grade along the way. As a result, her social skills were a bit underdeveloped until later in life. Finishing highschool with flying colors, she was able to get a full ride to a well-regarded university, where she studied exolinguistics with a minor focus in technological engineering. From there, she found work in various non-profit organizations with a small income from freelance tech work. Upon hearing about the SC Vega's nearing launch, she was quick to sign up, and her skills and experience landed her a decent spot.
Trivia
Cheyenne likes to call her "Bug" as a cute nickname, but it's unclear where it came from.
Akira gets overly attached to the various cute alien animals they meet on their adventures and is heartbroken they can't take any home.
As an easter egg, some of Akira's programming can be found in the code of the androids in Glitches, which takes place in the same universe on Earth.
I'm convinced Akira would be a fan of Jojo's bizarre adventure and make references even though it'd be around 200 years old and she's not even from Earth. Nobody has any idea what she's talking about.

Meeting through teh SC Vega crew, these two have a slow burn relationship that develops alongside the story. As things progress, they become near insperable in ther downtime (and sometime on the clock when they shouldn't be).
Amity Elway
The SC Vega's resident nurse, she often has to patch Akira up after her accidents. The two have cultivated a friendship from the repeated visits, and now regularly hang out. Amity has a simliar brand of quirky, and the two mesh well.
