About

Cheyenne is a real livewire of a girl, but when it comes down to it, she can be serious for the sake for the mission and her crew. Her passion for piloting has led her to be well beyond where she should be for her age.

Cheyenne is part of a space-ship crew leading a humanitarian effort. 100 years prior the Erisians lent a hand to Earth and allowed it to advance beyond it's means. Now the two planets have joined forces to do the same for others.

Sensitive Tough
Brave Timid
Careful Reckless
Sincere Deceptive
Diligent Lazy
Calm Irritable
Humorous Serious

Cheyenne at her core is feisty, impulsive, and overwhelmingly stubborn. Despite the laid back aura she gives off, she isn’t willing to let others take the reigns in her life. Slow to let people in, but then fiercely protective of them when she does. She prefers to deal with her struggles alone, as to not burden anyone else with her feelings, or worse..

Notes

  • It's standard in this universe for people to dress in greyscale and one accent color. Cheyenne sticks with a very light grey, a dark grey, and a light teal accent color.
  • Because of a piloting accident, Cheyenne lost both her left arm and leg, which have been replaced with cybernetic limbs. She also has some metal replacements on her cheek and side where the skin was damaged severly.
  • The band worn on her arm helps moniter her vitals and also properly link up her cybernetic limbs to her body.
  • She only takes her goggles off to sleep and shower, otherwise she's very attached to them.

Likes

Fixing her bike

There's something calming for Cheyenne to work on her bike, fixing it up as needed and keeping it in good shape. This extends to her ship as well.

Bears

Not much to it, she just thinks they're really cute even if they could kill you. Her favorites are Grizzlies.

Pizza

Her favorite food, reliably Earthen and always fun. She doesn't want to keep too much from Earth considering her time there was rough, but she's not above enjoying the little things.

Dislikes

Isolation

Cheyenne lived a good chunk of her life alone she feels, and anytime she did feel comfortable and loved, the people in her life were taken away from her.

The Ocean

No real rhyme or reason, she just isn't particularly fond of it. Akira likes to insinuate that she's scared of it.

Cooking

No matter how careful she is, Cheyenne always manages to make a mess while cooking. It's especially a pain to clean her prosthetic arm up.

Extra

Motorcycle

When joining the SC Vega, she had to leave her beloved motorcycle behind. For a while it was one of the only things she felt was a solid constant in her life, and the night rides in the city helped clear her mind.

Western Movies

Something she watched with her grandfather as a kiddo, Cheyenne formed a strong emotional attachment to cheesy western films and cowboys.

Strengths

Skilled Pilot

With an interest in flying at a young age, and a lot of determination, Cheyenne is a phenomenal pilot for her relatively young age.

Brave

As a result of her confidence, Cheyenne is very brave. She has a protective instinct for her crew and isn't afraid to risk her own life for them.

Weaknesses

Trauma

Cheyenne hides it well but struggles to deal with the PTSD that resulted from the accident that took her limbs and old crew.

Stubborn

Cheyenne has a lot of faith in her gut instinct, and will often argue that she's right or be too stubborn to cooperate with others.

Summary

chey_lineless_chibi_by_phidont_dez0f94-p

Cheyenne takes her time to warm up to this new crew, but when she does she really begins to mirror her old self. Much more confident (bordering on cocky), impulsive to a fault, and quite headstrong too. She's definitely a bold character on deck. She spends her free time with Akira, or helping out some of the mechanics on board, always having a hankering to get her hands dirty. Despite her more outgoing vibe she develops, she prefers to keep her close friends limited in number, fearing she might lose them as she's lost everyone else.

New Romantic Sailors follows Cheyenne and the SC Vega crew as they travel across the universe helping planets in need. It's a slice-of-life style story chronicling the little bits of their everyday lives and adventures.

History

Cheyenne checks her fair share of tragic backstory boxes for better or for worse. Childhood memories dampened by the fact her parents passed when she was four, she still managed to be a happy child learning all the piloting-know-how she could from her grandpa. He raised her for most of her life, and when his health declined, she was more than willing to take care of him in turn.

After her grandfather's death, she had no one left. That is, until she scouted for a crew. Her crew became her new family, and they looked out for one another. In one way or another, they understood each other's pasts and where they came from, able to bond from a similar background. Things didn't feel so bad anymore, she had somewhere she felt she belonged and it was nice. All good things must come to an end though, and theirs was rather brutal.

Old Crew

Cheyenne and her crew were essentially for hire. They did what they could to get by, and had fun doing it. They weren't above petty thievery but also could handle jobs with more tact if a client found them. Learning the Earthen Government was seeking a group willing to run a more covert mission for them, they jumped at the opportunity. Cheyenne's reputation ultimately lands them the job.

Well, turns out that the reason the government didn't want to send their own people was because they suspected it was a trap, and they were right. Upon arriving to their mission spot, Chey' ship was targeted and swiftly attacked. The ship took major internal damage and began to malfunction. Her friends already suffering severe wounds from the initial blast, there wasn't much she could do to save them. She does her best to escape, but too wrapped up in her grief she's stationary, caught in the blast as her ship finally croaks. She survives, but her left arm and leg are burned beyond saving. The damage to her face and side was a little more superficial, but still warranted the cybernetic fixes.

The ship's malfunctioning and damage would've alerted a higher up that things had gone astray, and help would've been dispatched right away. Because of the health advancements on Eris, she would be brought there instead to be treated. Her friends, though clearly gone, were officially declared dead at the hospital. Cheyenne lives in constant regret of agreeing to take up that job, and blames herself for her friends'- essentially family- deaths. The whole thing also resulted in a strong distrust of the Earthen government. She wishes she could leave Earth and start fresh somewhere new, Eris even, but lacks the excessive funding to move between worlds. The SC Vega's recruitment is something she faces with skepticism but ultimately agrees too to get off this planet and explore the universe. It's not like she has anything here for her anyways.

The incident took more than just her limbs though, as Cheyenne was grief stricken and lost a bit of herself in a more personal sense as well. Usually a bit cocky and high energy, she became more resigned and aggressive, not willing to give others the time of day.

Trivia

She wants to be a cowboy so bad just trust me on this.

She was never really supposed to have an upsetting history, but she needed a reason to lose those limbs so I went full gut punch with her past.

Cheyenne is one of my oldest ocs, originally inspired by Linh Cinder and Scarlet Benoit from the Lunar Chronicles.

Akira Watanabe

[ girlfriend ]

Akira's nosy tendencies paved the way for these two to actually get to know each other, especially when Cheyenne was still quite standoffish with the rest of the crew.

Amity Elway

[ friend ]

Though not as close as Akira and Amity are, the two of them get along quite well and it isn't uncommon Cheyenne needs patching up herself.
