ALIANTHUS
an ordinary girl craving escapism...
"Why...does this place feel safer than home?"
A simple yet inquisitive young cub, Alia (pronounced "àh-lee-ah") is a 12 year old girl coming from a world populated by fellow weird colorful species. After her dad was killed and another war exploded, all she ever wanted was to escape such sad reality.
Once she discovers the existance of another earth (commonly reffered to as the "human world"), she manages to convince her overprotective mother to enter in it via an AI connection made with Willow's old machines. However, things take a different turn...
Notes
- Alia has ASD (autism), alexithymia and a possible dissociative disorder;
- Despite her human "disguise", her feline behaviours and insticts (hunting, purring, hissing, grooming ect) are still there;
- She's agnostic, despite her population being heavily religious and polytheists;
- While not having an actual "nationality", as a human she's mixed (black from her mom, white from her dad);
- Her full name is the scientific name of a tree family. Btw I didn't even do that on purpose LOL
similar characters (personality)
Notes
- In both forms, she has sharp nails and defined fangs;
- Other than being soft and furry, her clothes are actually "glued" to her body and cannot be removed (yeah she has to sleep in them too);
- She has a huge white curled hair on one side of her hair. It can change shape based on Alia's emotions too;
- Her hoodie is in the shape of a cat and has little wings on the back, recalling her feline features. Alia can be seen covering her face in her hoodie here at 00:42 (i was too lazy to take a screen sorry);
- While in her human disguise and similarly to her feline counterpart, she can corrupt-shapeshift into a hybrid when threatened due to the connection between worlds being broken by Alia herself;
- She's not really plus size but she got sum belly #differentbodyreprocks;
- Pls...don't whitewash her 😭 /nm

Alia can be usually seen chilling and minding her own business, probably analyzing the space surrounding her out of curiosity; she craves knowledge the most and the more she has of it, the more she can reach the truth and satisfy her curiosity. Because of this, most people consider her "weird" or "eccentric".
She spends most of her time in her own little world, something that she also does to cope with stress. She can be kind of an airhead who struggles reading the room, but will become serious when needed. Sarcasm and humor are other ways she uses to cope too.
While generally laid-back, she becomes incredibly awkward and aloof during social interactions. She often ends up zoning out in the middle of the conversation, making (unintentional) blunt remarks or even get bashful when praised. She's also not the best when it comes to comforting someone; even then, she's compassionate and tries her best to help out.
Understanding and facing her emotions is one of her biggest issues. She may know she's feeling uneasy, but she cannot describe it, so she ends up dissociating altogether to avoid the uncomfortable; her low empathy levels don't help either. That also makes her more of a logical problem-solver. She's not the most expressive either, barely reacting when something bad happens.

background
Alia's world is populated by different fantasy animals and is divided in "fractions" (or states) based on the species born there; since she's a feline-based creature, she lives in the "Felid's Fraction". Her parents loved her immensely, but things change when, at around 6-7 years old, her father gets murdered by trespassing species and the rest of the felines declare war to avenge him.
Amara decided to give up her dream job to be a full time mom; while she had good intentions, her clinginess towards Alia was a way for her to cope with the loss since she was "the last thing remaining that has a part of him". Due to these traumatic events, Alia starts dissociating from reality and creates an inner peaceful world all to herself, to the point she cannot tell what's real or not.
But as years passed, she wanted more. Knowing that another earth existed out there, she figures how to virtually connect the two worlds thanks to Willow's machineries with her mother's help; Amara was actually very skeptical about it and even tried tricking Alia by creating false little worlds instead, but later changes her ways out of guilt. Thing is, it was now Alia the one taking advantage of her mom to escape in the human world.
the second earth (a.k.a. "human world")
Alia and Amara end up in a big district/neighborhood in the USA during the mid-late 2000s; despite the AI generating for both of them a "human disguise", their internals, blood and some physical feline features stay there. The first person they meet is Stella , a rich teenage girl who invites Alia to join her big friendgroup and be friends.
After finally leaving her mom behind, she grows closer to her new and first friend, until things seem to be off; two girls, a redherring "bully" and Stella's twin sister, try to bring Alia to their side by claiming that Stella is a cruel person; she has "allegedly" bullied the both of them, isolated them and turned her friendgroup into a "neo-dictatorship" that she controls as she sees fit.
Alia doesn't believe them, but because she wants to know the whole truth, she learns about their stories, personalities and struggles. Stella won't be happy about that, though...
"dreamland"
Since a young age, dissociation has always been her main coping mechanism to get through her everyday life. It got to the point that her subconscious "built" a dream-like space for Alia to forget about reality and retreat in her head.
Initially, her subconcious created her a parental figure (tbn...) that takes care of her, yet other characters will be created later on. While its purpose is to protect Alia from danger (in an unhealthy manner), later on it will become... something ...so ironic, huh?
powers
Alia's species carries a natural power that involves blood-manipulation; by using her blood -known for being toxic and causing burns like acids-, she can create shapes or masses and harm her enemy. When under threat, cortisol levels arise and blood vessels drive the blood towards the limbs' ends (usually the paws since they're easier to control); said blood becomes an energy-fire-like substance easy to model.
She can choose to either make blood-energy-balls, or use enough blood to shape it into a weapon. While having really good benefits, the drawbacks can be quite awful if overdone it:
strenghts
- Veeeeery effective; 2 or 3 "shots" are enough to destroy a whole house
- Benefits the enviorement; while toxic for other species, the enzymes in the used-up blood help trees' growth
- Easy to model to one's liking, as long as it's remembered how a certain weapon looks like
- The adrenaline rush can have a short-term calming or exciting effect to ease the fear
- Other than powers, higher agility and faster reflexes are gained as well. Alia's species is already fast and agile on its own for hunting, here they're just enhanced :D
weaknesses
- Easy to overdo it; can lead to bloodloss
- May harm the user if they try create a big mass all at once; can lead to shock, bloodloss or fainting
- The recovery's lenght depends on how much blood has been used, from a few days bedridden to a week long coma in the worst case scenario
- Powers are only gained when under threath and cannot be prevented
- Individuals can only come "back to normal" when the threath is defeated, either lethally or not
The same goes for Alia under her human disguise, the only thing that changes is that she becomes a hybrid between her two forms, as if she's shapeshifting. When using her powers, her eyes shape changes, the hoodie changes to a darker color and the symbol on the forehead starts to glow.
other
- She has a habit for staring at people with thinner pupils out of curiosity;
- She usually starts/ends her sentences with an awkward chuckle or "I think";
- While not being a fan of hugs, she occasionally allows her extroverted hug-loving friends to cuddle her;
- She stims by ordering her things based on colors and playing with LED lights in her room. She also enjoys putting things in her mouth when sensory seeking;
- She collects books and flowers for her studies;
- If she's ever heard swearing, Emiko is the one to blame...
She clearly loves her mom, but her costant suffocating is too much. After Willow's death, she's done everything in her power to give Alia a happier life, yet it wasn't enough. Even after ditching her, she's still fond of her and wants her to be well.
She really misses him, even if she doesn't remember him as much. She also admires his building skills.
Imaginary friend from her "dreamland". They're supposed to be Alia's "parent" making her happy, at least until Alia decides to finally face her emotions. Of course, it will backfire...
For Alia, she's like a little (bratty) sister; they love joking around together and play videogames! While Emiko encourages Alia to have fun and "live the moment" more, Alia helps her be less impulsive and take time before judging.
Basically a secondary mother figure. They love to have deep conversations, borrow eachother's books and hang out. Thanks to her, Alia learned to be more vulnerable and face what she feels.
The first person she met in the human world, but also the first who taught her not to trust everyone. She used to be close to her, to the point of developing a crush...all before realizing she was being manipulated all along. Even then, she doesn't hate her.
While not close friends, she enjoys spending time with him; both are introverted and share similar views on things, so she finds herself relating to him. Like Shayna, he also taught her to be more in tune with what she feels.
Her opinion on him is similar to the one she has on Felix, difference being she thought he was somewhat smarter not to go down his same path...
